As a healadin since the days of Wrath, I find I have been struggling this expansion but maybe I know why… can anyone share insight about holy paladins moving to melee healers? I’ve been judging a lot for the AOE but that’s not much different than normal. I feel like I missed a beat.
There’s a lot to take in with glimmer. It’s not the easiest playstyle and it doesn’t really play like holy pally has ever played in the past aside from maybe Eternal flame in MoP. We play a lot like disc priest.
So, to get started on glimmer you should read some guides. WoWhead has a great glimmer guide, Questionablyepic has one, Icyveins has one and the best place to go for all information is the holy section in the Hammer of Wrath Discord, everyone is very informative there and the holy FAQ itself answers a lot of beginner questions.
You’ll need 3 pieces of Azerite Armor with Glimmer of Light to get started. You can do it with 2 to start getting some practice as well. Glimmer is currently our best build right now and (imo) it’s very fun. Just start of reading those guides to figure things out and then put it into practice. Get some weakauras for Holy shock/Crusader strike as well once you get into everything.
There’s a lot of Min/maxing you can do with the glimmer build but for now just read the guides out there to get yourself started. Once you do that, you can head to the Paladin discord for questions or just ask here. The guides will tell you all the beginner information so you won’t be overwhelmed right off the bat.
Fantastic, thank you for the resource listing. I mainly use Icyveins but I will definitely check out the rest!
I believe I have extra pieces that specifically go for Glimmer, so there is at least that. But I was a shockadin in the past so I’m looking forward to giving this a try.
Glimmer/the glimmer build itself provides substantial dps. When you pop CDs it’s very fast and very fun. It’s fast and fun for healing as well but it can pull big bursty numbers for dps as well. Definitely the right choice for someone who liked shockadin in the past.
In m+ for example when you do a giant pull and pop CDs it’s basically the epitome of shockadin if you use your CDs for dps imo. AW/HA>Holy shock>CS>Holy shock>consecration>holy shock>Cs>holy shock>Cs>holy shock>judgement/consecration>holy shock, etc. You can pump out a ton of damage especially on big trash packs.
Regardless, gl with learning the spec! All the guides should help so if you have any other questions pop in the discord or ask again here.
