So, finally using my glaives as single minded fury for fun on my warrior, even though i have shadowmourne and others.
Was using them in Mana Tombs and they made the most god awful sound of a weapon / blade as if i was using something blunt. I was really quite upset, didnt even want to use them anymore. Gave me a slight headache, hearing “thump thump thump” when i would whirlwind or bladestorm.
Please for Gods sake, fix this noise to make it sound like a blade.
This might be a warrior issue as the game might be recognizing the actual glaive, when on a warrior, as a sword.
It’s great on my DH.
Edit: So just went and tried on DH (I earned mine on a DH); auto-attack has a slight “thump thump” to it, but it’s tinged with the sharp twang of steel. When I use Demon’s Bite, it sounds sharp, of steel on steel.

Do you mean the whump-whump-whump when he like twirls it? Does that happen with a sword equipped too?
I like the sound of steel-on-steel that a paladin makes, but it seems like when attacking a non plate wearer it should sound more like “squish”, or a dull thud of steel on bone.
Used shadowmourne and apolyon, soul render and it sounds like blades / metal.
Wars use whirlwind a lot, and so this gets annoying, only place I heard it happen though. It’s not, like, the biggest deal, but it sounds god awful and simple change. Headache inducing
That sound is the Whirlwind sound effect from Warrior. Just tested, didn’t matter what I was wearing. Shadowmourne or Warglaives.
Squish would be much better than this god awful thump sound.
Aren’t the warglaives of azzinoth fist weapons? If so that’s why. Fist weapons probably make blunt weapon sounds because typically they are blunt damage.
No, the sound it makes when Hitting, not the slicing through wind. The WW sound is fine, but in this dungeon, on those air mobs, when I hit them it made that awful sound.
No, they are swords / glaives

It’s a simple audio file, go play with glaives and see how you like the thump sound 1,000 times in your ears.
I usually listen to music but when i do listen to sound i usually dont even notice the weapon sound.
The only one i remember is the bonk sound which is like a wood block and is hilarious
Ok, you’re right. Outside, when hit mobs, get a powerful Chink sound. But when inside Mantombs, hitting Ethereals get a thwap sound. Gonna head to netherstorm, and see if it’s due to Ethereals or the Instance.
Ya just have to right click to get the sound, the Thwap on them.
Ok, it’s definitely an Ethereal thing. Went up to Netherstorm, flew over and whacked a few different mobs of ethereals. All get a Thwap. Regular mobs get a Chink like sound.
Kinda cool tbh since ethereals are cloth
Not when it’s pounding on your ears for 100 of times. Guess I’ll just use shadowmourne and other, They don’t make that noise, so why do glaives have to.
Probably a minor bug or something that is not intentional.
