Glaivepower - Disconnections

I’m having disconnects for close to a year now, same issues. It happens to me randomly. Can you guys please fix this?

Glaivepower,

You’re not on the same ISP as the players from that other thread so you’ve been moved to your own. You mentioned you’ve been having this for nearly a year which is quite a long time to be experiencing disconnections. Have you tried anything to troubleshoot this yet?

It’ll also help to have you create a WinMTR test which catches a disconnection. You want to restart the test every 10-15 minutes until you catch one of these problems. Once you’ve caught one red handed, run the test for about 5 more minutes. This will let us look for problems between your house and our servers which may cause this.

If you have problems with posting it due to a link error, go ahead and copy paste this into your next post, and replace “WinMTR goes here” with your test.

Okay, this looks fine. If you’ve been disconnecting for a year and this is your connection test during a disconnection, I’d imagine one of three things is true.

  1. Your windows installation or network drivers might be out of date. Try updating these.
  2. Some data could be flooding your modem or router. You can power cycle them to see if it fixes things.
  3. A problem with corrupt local data may possibly be causing the disconnections. Try uninstalling addon managers like twitch, raider.io, tukui client, etc, and reset your UI.

If none of that works - just to be sure, you caught a disconnection with that winMTR, right? If not, we need to run it again and catch one. If we don’t have the test running when the disconnection happens we won’t see anything on it.

I’ve tried all of these before, close to a year ago, disconnects still happen randomly. For the WinMTR Test, do I need to use the US West or US Central Ip address? I live in Vancouver, B.C Canada.

Thanks.

Things look normal on the WinMTR Glaivepower. You are pathing to the correct location for Proudmoore realm - West coast. I would take a look at Step 3 in Drakuloth’s suggestions.

You can leave that WinMTR running for hours. Doesn’t cause any latency in itself. See if you can catch a disconnect. I suspect we won’t see anything. This looks like something else. Try the UI reset.

There’s still no sign of connection issues in this test. You caught a disconnection with this one?

Yes. So the problem isn’t the connection then? I never disconnect in Classic, only in retail, that too randomly. What do you think is causing this? I’ve tried everything suggested by you guys, nothing worked. I’m getting a new desktop soon, hoping that’ll fix the problem.

Glaivepower,

As best I can tell, it doesn’t look like it’s the connection itself. If it’s exclusive to Battle for Azeroth we probably need you to contact our support team for more help. The things that should have fixed that have already been recommended, and without an MSinfo there’s not much extra insight to provide here.

It’s not letting me submit a request without adding a dxdiag, msinfo file and traceroute file. How do I do all of this?

Here are the instructions:

After trying everything suggested by you guys, guess what fixed my disconnects? A new pc…-__-. Now you guys can have my $15-18 a month again.

Haha - like you hoped. Still an odd issue
