Gladiator Stance

I miss it. I want it back. Still salty over it being removed.

You must have missed the thousand other topics made almost daily about this or SMF. Alot of people on this forum are sick of it being brought up, even people who enjoyed glad stance, because it’s no longer relevant to the game and the only people that make threads pertaining to those 2 topics are trolls 99.9% of the time.

Well, I’m not going to bother looking to see what everyone else is doing. And maybe just maybe if we keep the hope up Blizz will one day capitulate, maybe. I can hope, I can post about my hopes. You should be less cynical.

“I’m not going to worry about what others do” works everywhere but a forum with a search button. You say you’re looking for people who agree with you. That’s what the search is for.

The only reason I bought WoD was because of Glad stance. I have waited for years for a Sword and Board Dps. I always try to do the most damage possible with Prot and finally having Glad stance filled the class fantasy. It was the best Dps spec ever in this game. So much fun and better than any other Dps spec out there right now.

I’d be really curious to know why you ended up buying the other expansions then…

How was Glad honestly that fun? It was literally just Prot tanking with Pseudo-CS. There was nothing unique or interesting about it, and the APM was an absolute nightmare. It was also pretty much the worst spec at doing damage in the entire game - bottom 3 at best. Sure, you could do more damage with it than just tanking, but you’re still doing less than everyone else. What’s the point?

There was a brief window at the beginning of WoD that Glad was one of the top DPS specs. But the rotation felt pretty tight. If you messed up it felt like it could take a pretty big hit in effectiveness. Another part of the appeal is that it filled a certain idea of “class fantasy” as a sword and board DPS. Blizz really missed the mark on “class fantasy” in Legion when they killed Gladiator.

Glad was the top warrior spec for like…3 weeks? And that was mainly because Arms and Fury were just absolute trash tier, then Glad got slammed with the nerf bat hard and was dead the rest of the entire expansion. The rotation was fine, I guess, if you could get past the monstrous APM and realize you were literally just doing the tank rotation anyway - what’s so special about that?

I don’t really understand the class fantasy argument either because you were hardly considered a dps, seeing as how it was pretty much the worst dps in the game by a fair margin. You might as well have just been a tank because no one was going to take you seriously if you were playing Gladiator. Gladiator was removed because it was a failed experiment, and there’s no need to bring it back because we don’t need another dps spec.

The failure wasn’t because it was a bad idea. The failure was because in typical Blizzard fashion when they nerf something they overnerf it and never revisited it. As for “class fantasy”, it’s less about being on top and more about how it feels. It doesn’t have to be the best, but it needs to be competitive and be sword and board. Fury and Arms and Plot have their own “class fantasy” which don’t fulfill the aesthetic “class fantasy” of Glad. A lot of is an emotional feeling too rather than mechanical feeling. The mechanics can inform how you feel but it doesn’t necessarily override them.

I wish it would come back to, albeit as a 4th spec so they can iterate on it some more. I miss the super high ama.

Hope in one hand…

Anyway I’m not here to tell you what you can and can’t do. I’m just trying to tell you there’s hundreds of threads on this, and alot of people on this forum don’t really like to see the same thread over and over every day (especially since you offered no real content in your post, just drivel: “I want glad stance. Give me glad stance. I’m mad because I don’t have glad stance.” I mean, that could be considered trolling and/or just plain spam, right?

The glad stance and SMF argument is tired, and starting new topics about it tends to garner a response like you’ve received here.

The chance of glad stance ever coming back is slim to none. You might actually be better off asking for a WoD legacy server.

But good luck with your hopes. I wish you well.

I didn’t buy MoP because wasn’t interested in Pandas or Monks. Felt it was a wrong turn from fighting the Lich King at the black gate. Where it felt dark and like an MMO into being a kids game with Pandas.

I lvled a Prot warrior from lvl 1 in TBC. I play this game to play Prot and own it up with a Shield. If they removed Prot I wouldn’t play the game. I always have played Prot like a Glad stance even before they introduced the spec. Stacking shield block value in WotLK and Arm pen gems to try and get the biggest Crits possible with a Shield.

I play Prot to destroy stuff with my Shield. So pushing Prot to the upper limits in damage and using it in PvP is why I play the game. I have a 178k Hk’s on this Prot warrior from many expansions of Shield Slamming action.

It was super fun and I took it to the next level in PvP. It was a dream come true doing what I like to do best. Big Shield Slam damage and globaling people with it.

Here is a montage of some of my finest work with Glad stance. No one was hitting bigger Shield Slams.

There is nothing better than doing damage with a Shield. That is why I wear Dps trinkets as Prot and Brace for impact traits. Trying to do as much damage as possible. I just want to do massive damage with a Shield. It’s all about Sword and Board action!

Every MMO/RPG I play it’s way of the Shield. Before WoW was 6 years of Diablo and PvP with a SS Barb. It’s the class fantasy I need. So I am always theorycrafting builds to do the best Dmg possible with a Shield. That is what is fun and how a Warrior with a Shield should be played.

Always amazed that people get offended when someone posts a recurring theme to the forums. Not everyone is a ghoul on the wow forums everyday. People have lives. If you don’t want to read any more glad posts how about just don’t click on them? Warrior forums have become such a toxic place lol. Give the benefit of the doubt sometimes good sir.

The concept was great, but the execution was poor. I hope they find a way to bring it back with better balance and rotation. I doubt they ever will though.

Never understood why clowns like you get offended when someone mentions a certain thread being reposted…about 100 times in the last 6 months. You don’t have to be a “ghoul” to find a glad stance thread on this forum. You can probably scroll one time and find a dozen threads about it.

Nah, too many worthy conversations bury that trash.

It’s just courteous forum etiquette that you don’t necro or remake a thread a billion times. Makes it harder for people to find actual threads where people need help or want to have discussions when we have to sift through the dozens of Glad threads, which are all the exact same and literally contribute nothing to these forums. Like seriously, there’s a search bar…You’re telling me that you’re too busy with your real life to know what a search bar is or how to use it?

“I want Glad Stance. Like if you do too.”

Wow, great thread.

Won’t someone please think of the SMF threads!?
