Who here remember how much dang fun it was to play Gladiator Warrior in WoD?.
I LOVED IT. Sword and Board was so darn good.
I wasn’t huge into PVP and still really am not, however i really loved this spec for Dungeons and raids back in the day. It was the best time i’ve had playing the class. Anyone else miss Glad?.
I would love to see it come back in some way.
It was absolutely fantastic, one of my fonder memories of WoD.
I keep hearing murmurings of “glad spec is back” due to the customizability of the new talents but I’m just not seeing it.
Its def here. I do it on my prot warrior. Never use defensives or def stance

The reason I pre-ordered WoD was because of Glad Stance. Best Dps spec ever put into the game.
I do have a Glad stance thread up. They keep nerfing it though maybe the Devs reading it and hating idk.

It’s more or less here. Big Shield Slam crits, hyper mobily with the addition of Shield Charge, and vicious Shockwaves.
I’ve never had more fun in PvP.
Believe it or not?, i actually preferred Glad in the open world over Arms or Fury back in WoD. Rares?, SLAPPED. Cheeky world pvp’ers?, SLAPPED!.
I even used to run Highmaul and dungeons as DPS with it. It was SO much fun to actually have some survivability and damage for all content instead of being locked to one basic setup.
The ‘Gladiator’ spec being touted in Dragonflight plays and functions nothing like Gladiator in WoD. It’s closer to Protection PvP in WotLK.
And if you had quests or whatever to kill dungeon bosses, you just swapped to to def stance for insta-queues without having to think about it.
Sure you’d retalent for mythics when they came out, but for heroics it didn’t really matter after a short while.
I mean I think I know where your coming from but disagree. The main difference between Prot and Glad in WoD was Shield Slam dispel. Which is why Prot was competitive in Arena and Glad wasn’t. Unfortunately when they removed Glad they also removed Shield Slam dispel which ruined Prot in competitive play.
So Wrath Prot has dispel, the utility and on demand base damage. Which current Prot doesn’t have at all. Current Prot is all about ramp up damage, getting brace for impact stacks, outburst CDs etc. I’d say it plays more like Glad stance. Unfortunately it just really lack the damage to be competitive since it also lack any meaningful utility.
Prot needs Shield Slam dispel back, maybe Revenge MS and that’s it. Then they would be competitive. Without these tools it’s just Glad stance without the umph.
It’s not the dispel; it’s the pacing. Gladiator, even in PvP, was still much spammier than it is now. Pretty much to the point where it has the same flow as Arms (but different mechanisms and setup).
Dispel was the main difference though and we still don’t have it.
Think it’s extremely close. Difference was we had heroic strike then. Now we got more rage and more Shield Slams, revenge, tclap and dump into IP. Then with all the Auto attack boost to achieve 45% attack speed. It’s very spammy. It plays like Glad stance just lacking the big umph from Shield Slam.
Since we have no utility like Prot had we need more damage and it’s not there. It’s just Glad stance without the bang. Not only that Armor gives them damage again just like Glad did. I have a 2,000 armor proc trinket with Str that gives me more burst since Armor is Str.
So it’s very similar to Glad in build, stats and play.

They also said that classic would never happen.
WoD glad stance was fun at the expense of literally everyone else that played with it. It had problems with fundemental game design blizzard doesnt mess with. If something like it ever came back it would be in an incredibly different form and not at all like it was.
I wish it would I’d love to play it again. Granted I quit my horde warrior for this guy but I miss it. I might even take up tanking again soon.
Glad spec is here idk why you are lamenting the ye old dont care times of wod. Just spec sword n board demo pvp talent and some other talent n ur just obliterating people like it was in wod
