The crystal thing with enhanced VFX has just added this expansion what about BFA, Shadowlands, and Legion? There was nothing. Tabards are ugly, Pennant is ugly, and usually doesn’t even match. The weapon enchant is debatable.
I love 2s, it’s my favorite WoW arena mode. I will never agree with giving R1 titles to it. It would physically pain me to see rogues and dhs rolling around Azeroth with r1 titles and capped 1500 experience in 3s.
Yes, all of which is still highly sought after and desired. Right? Everyone ques up for 1800 elite set. Did it gut your appreciation for elite sets? Enchants? Tabards?
There are some nuances to the 2s vs 3s balance debate.
People at the top of the ladder in 2s in SL S3 were more deserving of recognition than people who facerolled mage/lock/priest or mage/lock/druid with pre-nerf Resolve trinket imo. Just an example that cheese can and will always exist in 3s too.
Does it not pain you to see them skyrocket to 3s Glad/R1 in the same fashion? We see it every season where some 2k player goes to 2800 don’t we or am I not remembering right?
Perhaps thas is just a balancing issue it is not unheard of for them to just implement special balancing if that is the problem that you see.
3’s is a whole new dynamic with coordination in CC and burst and defensive. So of course it will be more difficult but 2’s does have its own niche of being difficult and RBGs. Can’t just shut people out that love those things.
I wish we had data on who sits at the top 0.1/0.5% in the 2s bracket. I would be shocked if there were more players without glad/r1 titles in that data set than with it.
Not particularly useful as most people don’t have a reason to be up there. It’s kind of like comparing modern glad to an old cutoff like rival when the latter would’ve been more difficult had there been an incentive.
having the only reward in 2s being a tabard is idiotic and kills participation in an already rotting playerbase
ten years ago you could say 2s didn’t deserve titles because they actively balanced around the strengths of classes in a 3v3 environment, now the classes that are overpowered in 3s also bleed into being overpowered in 2s
all the players who get high in 2v2 are also capable of getting high in 3v3, excluding 1-3 teams per season. the difference between 2s and 3s ends up being your ability to network to land a mount or a title, for years people have moaned about 2400 glad ruining the ladder, but nothing ruins a ladder more than a lack of incentive to play
if you want a real answer as to why it isn’t a thing, it’s apathy and stances that blizzard has clearly gone back on over the years. wrath lost 2v2 giving rewards in s7, yet wrath classic allows rank 1 in 2v2 for every season, including 7 & 8
the 2s ladder has been completely dead for the entirety of dragonflight and it’s only the first month, which is completely unheard of for every start of an expansion. though i guess solo shuffle and preserving the ‘integrity’ of 2400 gladiator is so important we’ll kill off the most popular bracket
What happened as a result? People buy pilots and boosts and the PvP population is dwindling because of mixture of unfair reward system and terrible balancing.
Gladiator, no. R1, yes. I’m referring specifically to R1 title.
Listen, I agree with you. I love 2s, I wish it offered more to bring newer blood to the bracket. I also agree that there are certain aspects of 2s that require skill. For example, I’ve played Ret/Healer to 2100-2450 in 2s multiple seasons. Ret is widely considered below par for 2s, I enjoy the sport of it.
But for the exact reason you stated, you can’t balance classes effectively between two brackets that are significantly different.
