The Soul-Eaters would be dope if they didnt change the armor on them from season to season and instead changed the particle effects around the wings etc into new colors. Instead they’re keeping the black particle effects and just changing the armor. I think a reason people really like the pre-BFA mounts is that for the most part there its the same model but its always a different color on both the armor and the drake between seasons.

Imagine if instead of changing that dark grey armor they instead went changing the wings particle effects to a dark red (like glorious tyranny), a dark green (demonic tyranny), a dark purple (like primal victory), and then a dark blue. It would have required quite a bit more effort but black base armor with basically the same colors from our 2400 enchants would have given each season its own unique coloration.
Would have been a lot like the WoD Gronnlings and Storm Drakes from Legion where each drake/gronnling from season to season only really shared the base model between them.

They’re basically Dragon Shades, they’re not supposed to be super colorful.

That’s literally a storm dragon lol, the demonic dragon has green storm particles on it’s wings. It looks like demonic tyranny.
The only thing Blizzard did wrong with the Soul Eater mounts (exclusing s1) was make the colors too bright.
Should be darker color tones, of blackish x color.

Yes literally the stormdrakes and WoD gronnlings where everything changed except for the base model. These stupid Shadowlands mounts are only changing the armor when it should be reversed where the armor stays a nice dark grey/black and the rest of the drake changes to the season coloring. Also, the armor changes are super boring. We’re getting a light poop brown and a knockoff brand crayola red. These will definitely be the worst Gladiator mounts besides the BFA S1+S4.
The other SL mounts have different skin tones, eyes, and armor.
Yeah they’re not bright and extravagant skin tones but they’re different.
Colors picked could be better though, especially the armor.
Tbh I don’t see how these aren’t that much different from say for example the wrath and mop mounts. And that’s not because the former shared model with ICC. It’s just annoying to tell the difference in coloration. Should have had more armor on them. And as for MoP, the serpents have armor that too closely blends into the skin tone of the mount, so it looks like all the rest of the unarmored.
As an outsider looking in, I say the legion mounts just stand out better than all the rest. And not because they have an imposing skeleton like how the gronn and bfa mounts try. The extra armor and color variations in the skin and armor just make them “pop” out in a crowd.

Both Legion and Shadowlands have really good armor. Cata legacy wise and TBC are like legion and the shadow lands of their time in terms of quality.

Best looking is still Vengeful Netherdrake for me. I thought I was going to love the SL mount but they didn’t make the wings big enough, just looks awkward.
