Giving Blackstone Ring Away For Free - If people tip me am I going to be banned?

I now know the question of whether selling DM Tribute Loot or e.g. Blackstone Ring from Mara constitutes GDKP activity and is bannable has been flogged to death - after reading through many posts the conclusion I have drawn is that it’s close enough.

I enjoy soloing Princess and other bosses in Mara for the challenge/fun and for the loot/gold as a way of farming (also mining the mithril).

It’s a cool little mini-game that i’ve been doing since way back in the day.

For those familiar with the farm - Blackstone Ring is actually annoying for folks soloing Princess/Rotgrip/Tinker because it’s the only item in their loot table that’s unique so we have to destroy it or D/E it.

I’ve been giving it away to guildies for free and advertising it in the services channel for 10g (like I did in 2006/2019), until a kind soul notified me it fell under the GDKP ban.

Anyway - obviously I’m no longer selling it after familiarising myself with the blue-post, but how about offering to give it away for free - what if someone tips me?

Should I just go back to destroying it? That’s completely fine - I’m happy running Mara for fun.

You can sell them 50g each and you won’t be banned.

Only thing you’ll get banned by is people reporting you because you’re stealing their business.

i think u mean bots reporting him

I’m surprised you’re not getting whispers from people looking for the ring. If I wanted the ring, I would /who mara 60 and send whispering people as they are all doing the farm.

Perhaps there are too many?

That said, I don’t think you’ll have an issue with “tips.” Some generic advertisement with “tips appreciated” should be legit and you can work it out from there behind the scenes.

It might be a little too early on the anniversary realms - folks still levelling etc.

Out of an abundance of caution I’ve decided to step away from tips/gold completely & am telling people I don’t accept gold in any denomination (lol). Instead I’m inviting people to make a contribution to my raid consumes (that’s the whole purpose of the operation - healer has got to pay the bills somehow).

E.g. I’ll help you kill Princess & get you the ring if you help me with a couple GFPP’s.

Sounds like a weird form of communism when you take away capitalism.

hey guys if i sell this loot but call it a tip wink wink nudge nudge can i fool blizzard?

Im glad Blizzard has reached the point where people are airing their ways to try cheating them publically the same way we do the IRS.

No you are not allowed to sell loot. You must bot or swipe your gold or be poor like everyone else.

Just say you are selling unlimited carry runs for an excessive price. And mention the deal stops at either parties discretion. It just coincidentally happens when hoj drops ect.

This is not GDKP. GDKP is for raids not dungeons. This was done in vanilla and should be allowed. GDKP should be allowed too since Blizzard sells gold on retail.

This probably.

I’d be skeptical of such a claim…

:woman_shrugging:

You cant sell the item. You can only sell the run
