There has been someone on Twitter who edits game models who pointed out that there’s a tail skeleton on worgen women–
Worgen female apparently have a tail skeleton bones included in their 8.2.5 model while males don’t - which is curious as the Saurok and Saberon (that use male worgen anims) to my understanding have tails.
Before 8.2.5 Worgen fem didn’t have any tail bones from what I can gather
A few other things. There hasn’t really been any evidence that I’ve seen to suggest it otherwise that they’ll get tails either in any dbc files. There are no meshes either, which would usually indicate at least something. On the other hand they don’t have new hairstyles yet
These tweets and gif of the tail skele here: https://twitter.com/keyboardturn/status/1271912193852731393
Just to remind everyone, again, that vulperas were thought to have no tails and this was added for the race’s aesthetic improvement.
They look much better with the tail, right?
During the creation of the worgen, the artists imagined one thing and in the moment of passing this on to the game, like many things done for the cataclysm, it was left out.
The current model of worgen, looks more like a wolf acquiring the characteristics of a human than a human acquiring lupine characteristics.
I wouldn’t use what she found as concrete proof that Worgen are getting tails. She also is speculating that or could be leftover stuff from the female gargoyle npcs since some of them use the female Worgen skeleton that has a short tail
I don’t understand why is it so hard for people to agree with this tbh, will it hurt if there’s a story added to it in exchange for getting what you actually want (the tail)?
Too much compromise? Or don’t like compromising at all?
Some people just want to say no.
Who would like this cosmetic, totally optional, for worgen does not see problems in a story that explains this possible tail.
I see no problem with that. It is something acceptable and even desirable, if it is to expand and create something.
They aren’t going to add story for the sake of adding a tail, just like they are not going to add story for all the other new changes to other races that were never a thing until now. I don’t think you people realize that adding even a simplest of stories in the game requires resources on their end.
It’d be nice, sure, that’s awesome but people have been wanting tails on worgen -before- they were even announced as playable race. Again, lore’s been bent every which way…
Why people are so adamantly vocal against tails for worgen in particular when you have other bigger and more noticeable changes to races is beyond me. Not to mention, the lack of such protests makes one hypocritical in my eyes. Even if you aren’t okay with both ( or okay with one but not the other) yet you only voice protest for one and not the other is hypocritical.
Worgen player base has been constantly ignored and I’d rather have a simple tail option given to me than none at all, story/full animations can come later.
<3 I am very pro-tail and trust me, I feel your pain on feeling incomplete.
I was using the method to customize the model with a tail but stopped when that huge ban wave came out and people got a 6 month ban (which was shortly lifted). Still, haven’t felt the same since and was spoiled with that tail
Lets be real for a moment, I never said that I was against it, my first thought when I heard about this was “I wouldn’t change my current look but I don’t see any problem if anyone else wants it”.
But then from a third person view in this whole thread, your side is complaining about:
while you are doing the exact same thing:
Can you see it? It’s like saying “I want those resources to be spent on my request, but you, you want something too? Well sucks to be you, I don’t want devs to spend any resources for you”.
No it’s not. I am not the one demanding that lore/quests must be established to justify a tail like some people are in this thread. Not to mention if you read what I said, they are adding other new things to other races with no lore justifications at all. So they are getting resources spent too, but not on adding content/story to justify the new customization options. Again, as I said, Blizzard is not going to spend resources making minimal content just to justify a new option. Not going to happen.
I am asking for equality of customization options compared to the other races in this game that are literally getting almost everything and some. Adding a tail option is one the biggest requests from the player base that has gone on for -a decade-. In my opinion, this has now become the High Elf argument replacement. Either way, in adding this OPTION, this helps alleviate the discrepancies compared to other races. Big difference there.
It is your right to request for something you like, whether Blizzard is going to implement or not, that’s for them to decide.
But then your request has impact on other people who likes the lore, and I see no wrong for them to request for something to be able to satisfy both side, and again, whether Blizzard is going to implement or not, that’s for them to decide.
So if you’d just leave it there instead of trying to shut them down, maybe this whole argument wouldn’t happen in the first place?
Anyway, I feel like I’ve already expressed my view regarding this argument, whether you accept my advice or not I don’t wish to be a third party in your argument so I’ll show myself out now, thanks for reading.
In this very thread there have been detailed discussions about how a quest-line or scenario, likely involving Goldrinn, would be a good way to introduce the cosmetic addition of tails for Worgen, and update their lore. I don’t blame either of you for being unaware of those conversations, since this thread is now over 1700 posts long…but there has been plenty of civil talk about compromise.
Quests would be a good may to introduce an optional tail, because those that don’t want one could simply not do them.
