Give Worgen Tails (Part 1)

amen, well spoken

That was also a bad direction. two wrongs don’t make a right.

It’s not a puppy dog face. It’s a more natural lupine look. Have you ever seen an actual wolf before?

no it just means that they wernt intended to be that way. the old monster faces were just due to the game being unable to support the better models.

gen greymane in all of the recent expansion cutscenes has been adorable. hes far from this fierce monster you claim he is

i have but its super cute compared to thier old monster faces

But I have. The problem is that WoW isn’t Gilneas, the Worgen theming of ‘horrible monsters barely restrained’ doesn’t work when you’ve got humans capable of breaking mountains with a snap of their fingers or a swing of their sword.

What on earth? No it doesn’t. Do you think Tauren numbers are impacted by ‘lol furry cow’ nonsense as well? Because they have the exact same baggage. And, guess what, the classical minotaur wasn’t always depicted a tail either! Hell there wasn’t even consensus on if they had hooves.

Aw yeah, here we go I love lists.

Only if I get to scream ‘there are too many elves’, and even then we’d both be wrong.

The ‘official word’ is that they don’t, but licensed art, games and concept work keeps popping up with those tails attached to those wolf butts. All of these ‘mistakes’ vanish with the addition of a little box that reads ‘GIMME TAIL’.

Wolfie posted Shearx’s models here. I can’t link them because MAH TRUST ISSUES but rest assured they’re fantastic.

The World of Warcraft pushes them away from the classic horror werewolf feel because so many of the other big tropes (loss of control, virulent and contagious curse, degredation of intelligence) are completely absent. Again, World of Warcraft is not a horror game.

Tails are technically already ‘baked in’ to the model, they’re just not rigged and visible (the Saberon say hello). It wouldn’t be difficult at all to enable a toggle. Some texturing may need to be re-done, but it’s not this impossible odyssey you’re making it out to be.

I wouldn’t call it cute so much as more natural to be honest. I suppose by comparison it’s cuter if you want to think of it that way? Either way it looks better.

Wolves just look cute in general. They can be mean and look scary, but name me a single animal on the planet beside Red Pandas that can’t.

Wahs can never be scary they are the cutest things.

also very well put ty ^^

Any animal can get scary if it’s angry enough. Though for some, like aformentioned red pandas. It’s through action rather than look.

yea fully agree. ive seen a wah try to be scarey and it fell over making its scariness null and void lol

idk i think the worgen look adorable, i mean if you look at the cutscenes with gen grey mane specifically the ones from the battle for undercity he is absolutely adorable, the dev team did an amazing job on his animations and the way his eyes move,a nd how he get all mad then when the king calms him down he looks all cute again

and the new customization options coming are going to amp up the cuteness factor anyways, idk if any of you have seent ehm but they are far from the monsters we previously had now

You find it cute, I find it just natural. Either way works in the end.

Indeed, the model rework was desperately needed and looks very good. Foxes are always where I am home, but wolves I do hold close to my heart.

I’ll pass on the snaggletooth bit, but I’d definitely rock some additional markings and/or color schemes for my foxie.

That said, give worgen tails dang it.

Are dragons cute? They have tails? What about badgers? I mean lions can be cute as well but not when they eat you.

If adding a tail option pushes some one away from playing that race. Then they where not going to play that race.

Adding a tail option doesnt make the worgen any less fierce as a race.

dragons are adorable
even when they are eating you

it does becuase it pushes them more towards looking like furries, more towards looking like wolves in top hats… its a smalls step but still a step in the wrong direction. It’s all about context.
Not everyone who plays a worgen wants to be tarred by the furry brush. The race allready carries that taint, no need to reinforce it further.

That’s not how that works also furry wasnt even a thing when worgen came out. Back then people wanted tails as well no one called them furries. Honestly the term furry is dumb. If adding a tail makes them furry, then bad news the fact they go from human to wolf makes them more furry then any other race in the game.

We have people in that community that do some crazy impressive things. I mean one of the best players at fighting games in the world is sonic fox.
