Give Water Strider the Lumber Extractor Treatment

The lumber extractor’s special “herb while mounted” ability was not removed and mount equipment is disabled for it.

Give the water strider the same treatment - give it back water walking that we grinded hard for (you don’t want to diminish player efforts right?) and just disable mount equipment on it too. There’s 0 reason not to do this.

There’s one reason not to do this. Force the player to use the mount equipment slot if they want a waterwalking mount, instead of letting them use a waterwalking mount and have the arguably more important for non-tanks immunity to daze mount equipment for your other mounts.

Or were you not aware that the goal of this game is to annoy and frustrate players as much as possible to see how far they can go before reaching a limit and doing a couple of backsteps to placate players, then going in hard to reach new levels of frustration?

You almost got me.

I honestly don’t get why water walking is so big. Every character I play has the anti-daze equipment instead and if I really have to interact with water, I’d rather use one of the swimming mounts.

Why do you all like water walking so much?!

Imo it’s a matter of habit. Yes, it’s not really important these days and the amount of time you spend even near water is minimal, but people have gotten in the groove of pulling out waterwalking whenever there was a lake or river or something, so suddenly losing that option is, say it with me, general discussion, a slap in the face!

On my part it’s because I have a tonne of hp, a large part of which becomes a regenerating shield courtesy of Demon Skin, and the shield makes me immune to daze, so as long as I don’t go too crazy running through mobs I’m fine. Places like the Desmotorium almost convinces me to swap, though…

I can see the habit argument for it. I just basically forgot about mine as soon as I pulled it off all my bars I guess.

It’s quite useful for open world content for one, especially in zones that prohibit flying (Timeless Isle, Isle of Thunder, etc.) or zones with flying locked behind requirements.

The mount equipment slot ruined mount collecting. So, I refuse to use the equipment slot beyond putting a water walking thing in it. It’s an unnecessary inconvenience that also reduces the value of mount collecting. It makes it pointless to want multiple mounts for different abilities. And then when they do get a mount with a unique ability they remove it from the vendor after a year (AH mount cough)

Wouldn’t everyone just equip the anti-daze saddle and use the old water mount macro? I can’t imagine anyone using any other mount equipment if Blizzard made this change.

Either way I’m good because I’m never taking off the anti-daze equipment.

water strider was a grind… obviously since that grind of expansions ago, Blizz can’t make newbs run that grind.

anyway you do it, if the azure is useful now, it’s eventually a required grind for newbs.

IF I remember right, that was Pandaria… and the grind was useful from Pandaria, into WoD, because having elite rep with Nate Pagle was a boon for your garrison fishing pond.

But what’s it matter now… you don’t even need a fishing pole anymore.

I still have a sea horse just in case anyone thought there was a logical reason not to do this. He’s a water mount. That’s all I want, one mount for water and the rest non-dazeable.

I have the sea turtle… and stacks upon stacks of water breathing potions and items… hoping I never need em again.

So your reason is that since you think a grind for an open-world QoL ability is “required”, that everyone who grinded for it in the past should’ve had it taken away from them?

Doesn’t walk on water though. Big difference. We’re also talking about disabling the mount equipment for mounts that already have abilities, e.g. the lumber extractor.

they could also just remove the stupid daze mechanic altogether.

I don’t need anti-daze as I’m used to strafing to avoid daze.

I’d rather not get off my current mount which if I’m on the ground then I don’t have flying so it WOULD be the water strider.

nope, not my requirement… it belongs to Blizz, the devs will NOT require NEWBs grind rep in Pandaria… newbs are not required to mine copper in Azeroth, before they can mine in Shadowlands either.

I have the Azure Strider, sea horse, and the sea turtle… some are still keybinds on older alts I’ve left behind…

put the anti-daze on… right off the top, I can’t think of a body of water in all of Shadowlands where I would need the Azure.

So what exactly is your argument against the point of the thread? I’ll restate it if it wasn’t already clear:

-Disable mount equipment on Water Strider and give water walking back to it, just like how mount equipment is disabled on the lumber extractor and it retained its herbing feature.

Nobody’s asking to take water walking mount equipment away.

Reminder to BM hunters: you get water walking for free if you tame a water strider.

actually, it’s you that doesn’t have an arguement… just put the water walking inscription on it, presto, it walks on water.

nah, what you want is a backdoor… you want your water walker, so the rest of your mounts can be anti daze…

and that creates the need for Newbs to rep grind Pandaria, to have what we would have.

As I said, and again, the Devs try to make this game Newb friendly… you and I and all the rest of the veterans lose.

Right now, we need anti daze and there’s no water in SL to worry about. BfA had a lot of water and dumb people whined that all they saw were water striders.
