Give us the Allied Races we already have. Without the twist!

Ogres and High Elves.
Dragonmaw Orcs and Wildhammer Dwarves.
Jinyu and Hozen.
Taunka and Frost Dwarves.
Fel Orcs and Broken.

These are some of the most prominent races with logical pairings out there that have current membership in our factions. But they aren’t playable.

High Elves could have been playable… but there had to be a twist. Void Elves.

Broken could have been playable… but instead we had a unique and redundant creation that is their polar opposite.

The Mag’har Orcs that have been a part of the Horde for years - one even serving as Warchief for multiple expansions? Nearly playable - you’ll always have that lingering knowledge that you’re an alternate universe knockoff.

The only implementation of an Allied Race that fit my ideal mold was the Dark Iron. They simply made their alliance with the Alliance more formal. No twists. A cool visual upgrade, sure, but they’re still Dark Iron Dwarves. Neat. Tidy. Perfect.

Enough of the dark horse entries. Refrain from corrupting our wishes with unasked for twists that void the desire for these races. Give us what is already there. Low-hanging fruit. Pluck away.

And to be perfectly honest, I don’t even dislike the Allied Races we’ve been given. I’m only missing the heritage armour on Kul Tiran, and that will change soon. I’m just asking that a little respect be paid to the game’s history.

That desire to play as Akama’s race of Broken Draenei never went away when it was subverted with The Burning Crusade’s retcon. Obviously the High Elf hype was not dated by Void Elves. All of those bypassed opportunities of yesteryear are still there, waiting to be capitalized upon.

Make the old new again. Respect your history. Have the playable roster represent the story you’re telling.

Give me the half orc/half ogre like rexxar. I’ll sub for life.

If we’re being all-inclusive with regards to NPC races that are already part of the factions, then let’s throw in Forest Trolls and Furbolgs as well.

Also, thank you for mentioning Broken.

I love you.

No, Lightbound Undead and Wildhammer dwarves

Ah, yes. I wonder what undead will look like with glowing yellow eyes.

OP has it right. Just missing the San’layn from that list, and the Vykrul.

Both crossed my mind, but did either actually join the factions? Or did they just have some affiliation? You could add quite a few that we’ve been affiliated with, but the list gains a bit more focus when you concentrate on those that have been officially inducted.

Mok’nathal was one I definitely missed - I suppose half-Elves are an obvious counterpart. But there are many that are faction adjacent that I shy away from, like arrakoa and ethereals. Cool races. I’d love to see them added. But I want the factions to gain a focus on what is already in place before expanding.

Well, the San’layn certainly allied with the Horde in BFA. You’ve got me on the Vykrul though.

Allied with the Horde, yes. But only from the Alliance perspective. I don’t recall any mention over on the Horde side.

They struck me as more of a failed audition than an actual induction. Just look at the pomp and circumstance of the Dragonmaw Clan’s joining for comparison. But it has been a year since I played through that, so I could be wrong.

Alliance players frequently ask for Vrykul due to the heritage they share with the humans. However, lorewise, the vrykul have never shown any favoritism towards the Alliance whatsoever, nor would it ever be in their best interest to join them.

Dark iron dwarves. literally bane of existance for years. brf. now happy.

vrykrul. literally had a quest storyline where you brawled with them and their polar bears to save their diety from the darkness and grind his respect.

what the heck is a Frost Dwarf?
you mean the iron ones or the stone one?

I wouldn’t say “happy.” There are a lot of fences that need to be mended, but they’ve technically been part of the Alliance since Cata when their monarch gained 1/3 of the political power governing all dwarves in the Eastern Kingdoms. BFA more or less just made that official.

Which one was this?

I feel like Dark iron dwarves could have been multiple Dwarf clans in one similar to the Maghar orcs.

But i doubt they would ever do go back and do it.

If this guy has his way, the proportion between elves to non-elves will remain unchanged.

If a second round of allied races comes to fruition, then there is no problem with this happening. More elves are fine.

Give me undead elves already. Dark rangers and blood princes have been in the game forever but your options for undead that aren’t DKs are… tall boney mechagnomes.
