Give us Mind Sear back!

Please give us Mind Sear back. Don’t get me wrong, I do think that the idea behind Psychic Link is actually a really cool idea. It’s pushed Spriest aoe dps up pretty high but there’s a big problem with it.

Not pressing an aoe ability to aoe feels really weird…

I understand the concept behind Psychic Link. I do, trust me. I think it’s pretty cool. But it feels SO WEIRD not having a dedicated AoE button to press to AoE down multiple mobs.

Give us Mind Sear back and maybe replace Psychic Link’s name with Mind Sear. Make it all do the same thing but give us a button to press. I feel like that would feel a bit better than just going through a simple single target rotation to attack multiple enemies.

I suppose another point I could say is that having this takes the control out of our hands. It feels weird. Giving us a button to press would put the control in our hands and it would make it feel a bit better.

I want mind sear back for disc too. I think it suits more then holy nova

Disc does uses both shadow and light. Mind sear would fit perfectly lol

No thanks. I like shadow having psychic link instead.

The problem with mind sear is that the bigger pulls get, the less and less of our rotation we used in favor of mind sear. It was something like: At 3 targets you drop mind flay for mind sear, at 5 targets you drop mind blast, and at like 8+ you only mind sear and voidbolt.

I much prefer shadow maintaining its more complex single target rotation even in aoe, where we get procs and different spells to use. Not to mention Psychic Link combined with our master gives us unique opportunities to maximize aoe with proper timing.

I don’t miss having a 1 button aoe rotation. It was bland and boring

I hated the Mindsear gameplay because it was clunky having to channel a spell to do AOE damage. Psychic link AOE cleave is similar to how Shadow did AOE dps in BFA which was fun.

Also, Shadow Priest is the easiest caster to do AOE dps with imho. I play Fire/Frost on my Mage and I have to do 2-3 more times effort to do AOE dps where Shadow is Shadow Crash and brrrt. They just nerfed the crap out of Shadows AOE dps.

I miss having on demand AOE.

DP ticked just as hard on PL targets as MS did prior to the PL nerfs, so we still have AOE on-demand because even with the nerfs we’re producing more damage from DP ticking and the rest of our damage continuing rather than stopping.

The only difference is we’re not hard channeling MS when we spend insanity.

What on demand AOE do we have if shadow crash is on CD and you don’t spec holy nova?

I wouldn’t mind if Mind Sear came back, but was not a channeled spell. I don’t think channeled aoe spells exist anymore, and there’s a good reason for that.

Why is your SC on CD when you know you’re going to need AoE?

Because I missed, the tank moved, a z-axis issue, another pull within the 20 second CD, etc…

Also something that has a cooldown is definitionally NOT on demand.

While I agree that an ability as important as Shadow Crash shouldn’t be as prone to failure as it is, the reality of the situation is that if you missed Shadow Crash then your MS isn’t providing much. You’d be losing ~36-40% damage from mastery, you’d burn all of your resources, and then you’d be manually casting your dots on everything anyway. May as well cast the dots first and then do more damage than you would have with Mind Sear anyway.

I agree. I should have been more clear.

I mostly miss having on demand AOE for things like tagging mobs during time rifts or getting players out of stealth. My bad on not specifying.

It’s a really small issue since it doesn’t matter for any actual difficult content, but something other than shadow crash would be nice for mobs that don’t live long. In leveling dungeons or low keys nothing really lives long enough for all the set up that goes into pl-based aoe. That’s where I’d like the old non-insanity costing ms as a builder. You almost certainly still want to sc for the mastery, but when I was leveling nothing even lived long enough to get a mb out.

I know it doesn’t matter at that level, it’s just not a great experience holding down the bottom of the meter save on bosses because you aren’t mechanically equipped to compete with e.g. a melee cleave at all.

I think Mind Spike should have been a high damage AoE with 8-10s cooldown. Psychic link should have been made 30% damage to 1-5 targets and 15% to anything over 5. Shadow crash should be like cataclysm, cast time but instant hit and a bigger aoe range.

Thats mostly due to scaling. During leveling if ive got in the group with dps with same level or close to mine …i was either on par with them or way ahead due to heirlooms. If you pick deathspeaker, unfurling darkness and mastermind you pump with just instants alot.

But the moment you get paired with someone sub 20 level its like youre beign boosted on naked characrer by those lowbies. Same with tanks. The lower the level is, the bigger the gap between you and them become.

Also i know it sound stupid, but at low levels like sub 40 you should pick holy nova with rhapsody…you will top dps on mega pulls on low lvl dungeons…

Id prefer mind sear, i hate having to run into melee tonise hily nova, just to run back out because im a clothy that will die if i dont
