I’ve been playing SoD a lot lately, just taking a short break from TWW. Mage healer is really cool IMO. You get a disc like playstyle where you have to apply a buff to everyone, and then do damage with arcane spells to heal them.
I’d honestly love to see a fourth mage spec added. A full on chronomancer spec focused on healing. I think it would be a cool play style to see in WoW all fleshed out VS just bolted onto the existing class via runes.
I also think it could get more people playing the healing role, since it allows people to continue playing Mage and living that class fantasy, but also do healing.

Mages are designed to use offensive and defensive battle magic. If you want to roll a mage healer, roll a priest.

They are referring to mage healers in SOD. While I agree with you, idk about mage healers in retail. But I also don’t see why arcane magic couldn’t mend wounds in lore. Mages arent just battle mages in wow lore

An alter time on a party member would be insane. You could do some really crazy plays with that.

The mage healers in sod used time manipulation… kinda stupid, lol
I want a mage healer to be exactly what mage is now, but my party turns to hostile targets and I get to just attack the crap out of them in green numbers. No other changes.

If mages were to be able to heal , Blizzard would nerf them to the ground. Too many pvp players would be crying that mages are too op.

The last thing this game needs is another class with 4 specs… Druids class tree is still an abysmal mess let’s not add another.

I’m a big supporter of Mage tank, along side of Mage healer.
Some people are really loyal to their main class. They don’t want to play another, even if it means they could play another role. If more tank and healer specs were added to already existing classes, then I believe that would result in more people playing healer and tank.
Unfortunately, I seriously doubt that. Well, there would be more players of those specs, but it wouldn’t help the pug environment. The healer/tank shortage is a self inflicted wound.
Id quit my main to be a mage tank, all fay every day
