addons and websites like armory rely on WoW purposfully providing info like equipped talents in their API. They literally just need to stop providing that info via API and armory or addons would no longer be able to track it.

This right here folks, the toxic community WoW has become.
And I am a person not afraid to lead my own groups, I usually say in M+ I don’t care about the stupid timer etc. I warn people ahead of time that my group is super casual

The community has become something that misuses the word toxic to mean anything they don’t like. There is absolutely nothing wrong with striving to do content in the manner it was designed. You are doing the right thing making your own groups, but someone doing it differently isn’t toxic.
Calling others a ‘dummy’ is pretty toxic. No need for petty insults.

My bad I missed that part… name-calling is toxic I would agree.
I feel like the word toxic has been so overused to this point that it essentially has no meaning anymore because someone helping an older person across the street is somehow lumped in with someone kicking a puppy down a flight of stairs into a furnace and lighting them on fire.

All that will do is cause players to pass over or kick anyone who hides their
talent choices. Must be a reason why they hide them. So the other players
just wont take the chance.
if you can’t handle playing with other people, go play a single player game.
I would 100% not invite someone who had this information hidden.
Just like I won’t invite someone to a key with no io data.

All of those happen currently with talents being public. Making talents private changes nothing.
Apparently not if the complaints of people constantly getting blasted for their choices are true
So we invest time and energy to make talents private in hopes that instead of blasting people for their poor choices, people are instead blasted for hiding their choices? I fail to see this as any better.
Seems like you deserve to be judged.
There is no reason that people who want a free ride, or don’t want to put in effort because they are self proclaimed “lazy” should be protected by a system.
There may be genuine reasons as to why you should be able to make them private, but this is not one of them.
You take the consequences that result from your apathy and deal with it.

I seriously cannot remember the last time i was in a m+ and someone was like “ayy your talents are crap!” heck even for the covenant thing, despite necro being apparently super poopoo doodoo bad for resto, the worst i get is people complimenting me on my ability to slap while healing. Forums are once again doing their thing where they come up with an extreme minority situation and act like its a daily thing everyone sees every time they sign up for a random heroic.

I’m a tool. I always pick talents that websites recommend. Unfortunately, they are usually 100% right!
What offends me is that you post attention seeking garbage like your original post.
Nobody cares what you pick unless you’re doing anything remotely challenging. Even in higher keys I barely if ever see this happening. Based on the way you’re carrying yourself here it sounds like you’re either lying/overreacting or seeking attention.

Players like to insult and bash others, period. And it’s usually over the stupidest things. People can’t just play and have fun in this game. Someone always has to tell them what they are doing wrong, or they are playing wrong, or throw insults, if anyone is attention seeking here, it’s people like you who can’t even discuss anything like a mature adult. Maybe you’re a kid, who knows. In my 20’s I was toxic like you, but now I am in my 30’s and just don’t have time to deal with the drama anymore.
That’s why I want to be able to hide stuff, less stuff for people to cause drama about.
Some people like myself just want to play the game and be left alone.
