Give us a challenge

Maybe it’s still in the game but it’d be set at level 85 and you’d have to manually run there.

Players level through the dungeon finder, which doesn’t involve the old heroic dungeons.

Legion was great, BFA broke me both spiritually and mentally. I don’t share the opinion that it’s impossible for retail to be brought back onto a better path.

Umm, it’s code, data, scripting and 3d art, i could make it anything i wanted it to be.
I could make shadowlands play like Wrath 2 with a spritz of vanilla, with shiny graphics 300fps and uber nifty hyper spell batching.

The question though is, would that be what the mass market really wants, now and tomorrow?

I mean i could make the game so challenging that one would think EQ and UO were minecraft in creative mode, and death is the most common commodity in game.

I think the modern market may very much not like it though

Well, nah I suppose they wouldn’t lol. All I want out of retail is to be able to progress group content without being pressured to complete solo content daily.

And of course, class gameplay to be better because that’s a sore point with BFA.

The most noticeable difference between classic and retail for me is that for the most part, I’m free to log in and complete my goals at my own pace. Some complain that there’s not enough content in classic but I actually find the freedom massively refreshing.

Someone tried to run me through retail, was either just before or just after BFA

What i did was run after them here and there making a note of basically
These are all the things i must do every day, to not fall behind.
I was like, well what if i dont do them?
Because in TBC and Wrath, if i didnt feel like doing dailies, nothing bad happened.

He laughed and said trust me, you dont want to skip out, you will fall behind.

I asked about things that would be normal in vanilla and tbc and classic
You know, normal questing, adventuring, exploring, traveling etc.
And i could feel the blank stare trying to find a way to become words in the chat box.

And i mean, i get it, a lot of popular games now days are built in this style
not just MMO’s, there is a similar vibe to the design.

But i was like i cant do that, it’s no fun.
But if i dont do it, i will be way behind.

And no one could tell me the lore, i guess it is not that important any more.
Like why are we here, why are we doing this, besides to get loot or gear.
Seemed to be little RP to it

Do what I do, raid naked.

Yep, all it gave me was anxiety and frustration by the end. Content needs to be fun on it’s own, not a chore to be done beforehand.

These were large complaints for BFA though, so I’m curious to see if this will be addressed enough for me to return.

It just did not remotely feel like fun.
In classic, or any of the classic period expansions during their time, you had people who leveled up simply by exploring, making up their own content kind of, rarely questing etc.

Now those people would still be fully viable to instance and raid when they were ready, if they wanted, it was all still open to them.

That does not feel possible in retail, you will never catch up gear wise, and no one will want to instance or raid with you.

That was basically what i got out of what the person was showing and explaining to me, and i dont think they were jerking me around, i think they were genuinely trying to help me get up to speed with the new game and how its played

So you want to make the speed runners and wipe the memories of them to make them struggle on the encounters so you can feel better about your clear times?

Hm, interesting.

Do you want a challenge ? Our real world is full of challenges, just get out of your small PC room…many of them. Let me keep playing a game for fun.
