Give the player character an iPhone

I’ve been thinking about how there’s no lore explanation for some of the systems that people seem to dislike - like LFG. But I had a great idea while eating dinner - why not give the player character an iPhone, and make things like the spell book, character stats, lfg be apps on the iPhone. And also we already have the selfie cam, which can be incorporated. When you use one of those menus you’d see your character browsing their phone in game like the map.

I think this makes sense, and for those of you who think its too far fetched for wow, we already have motorcycles, planes, etc. so a phone is literally no big deal.

Yeah so I can lower my head and stare at my iphone in game when I want to ignore people.

Eeeww. No thanks. I would never let my character lower their standards to use one of those.

Because playing Hearthstone, or ‘Raid: Shadowlands Legends’ in game sounds like a plan.
Imagine the whole new realms of monetizing that can be managed.

No you didn’t.

I’m not sure what this has to do with the rest of your post but I’m interested to hear it.

Why not Android and/or iPhone?

No androids are spyware made by Google to feed you more ads

Sounds a lot like World of World of Warcraft.

Why would a company make iPhone only app?
Most users are on Android. Lol

Some people need to learn the meaning of “lore” and how it differs from “gameplay”

My player character prefers Android.

Tell us more.

Motorcycles and Planes are around a century away from modern smartphones, they don’t make this level of digital technology make sense, and given WoWs themes, it would make much more sense to see weapons based on all the technologies that go into making a phone then seeing phones themselves.

That’s actually quit the opposite. You do know that Iphones software is “closed source”? And Android is “Open Source”.

If you use Apple you have NO idea what’s in their software. They can put anything in there for tracking data, etc and you wouldn’t have a clue.

Android on the other hand is open source and you can see ALL there software plain as day.

So which phone is more likely to have spyware as you mentioned?

Android is open source, the stack you get installed on your phone is not. I work on the kernel for a living. The kernel gets forked by companies making new android phones, they add a bunch of board support, closed sourced drivers etc, then they load their proprietary apps and skins on top. All of the google apps are also full of spyware.

So yes, you can see some of the vm code, pre fork stuff, but your phone is not open source unless you unlocked your boot loader and are running stock android with 0 google apps on it and an open source boot stack, which I highly doubt you would ever figure out how to install on a phone.

Oh and all your apps have to be open source too so you know they aren’t full of telemetry for gathering ad metrics

Can we get selfie poses that are cool and unique? I would tolerate the lore breakage for more RP stuff.
