He’s the de facto leader of the Venthyr now with their Septumvirate system (until Denathrius changes his mind as Renathal believes he will).
However, Renathal simply does not look as cool as he should. Besides the fact he doesn’t really have a unique model (just unique hair style + color), he objectively is presented in his least cool form in the Sanctum. This is horrible game-imbalance given Kyrestia in Elysian Hold, the Winter Queen in Tirna Achiad, and the combination of Draka-Alexandros-Vashj-Balmedar-Merileth in the Seat of the Primus.
Renathal does, however, look super cool when doing some of the Covenant Campaign.
Still a bit funny Denathrius “made them in his image” yet he made dang sure to make them ugly nosferatu anyway. Probably to avoid the chance of any of them being better looking than him which is pretty fitting for him
On that note I actually been wondering something: the portraits of some venthyr dude with black hair and the statues of some unseen venthyr all over the zone. I wonder if that’s how Renathal originally looked, or how Denathrius originally looked.
Anima-face-lift is something Denathrius would do imo
I do recall there’s a portrait of denathrius in his boss room. Seemed about the usual look wise.
That or it’s possible the venthyr were just sort of a test run to bait the light into attacking. Just “Here’s something you can’t convert no matter how much you try because they’ll wither and go insane lol”
The Dreadlords on the other hand are either his “real” children or he serves them

Even Renathal isn’t entirely too sure what Denathrius was doing in Sinfall after he was made, since it was his private lab.
The “Enemy Infiltration” book is in writing we don’t recognize, and all the Harvesters and various Venthyr NPC otherwise have given us letters or orders or references in various questlines. The Daily Quests via the anima conductor (Edict of Doom) are presumably written by Renathal.
I’d wager the Dreadlords were made same time as Denathrius began working with Zovaal, i.e. after Renathal and the original Harvesters were made, but kept secret from everyone.
