All crafting professions give a good DPS bonus. Skinning gives some crit rating, and I think herbalism might give some DPS increasing bonuses. But mining gives 500 hp. It’s completely useless if you’re not tanking, and even then it’s not very good. Mining should be buffed a bit for Wrath so that we don’t have to create a new farming alt for mining (assuming we didn’t have one already.)
It’s a DPS boost in that it’s a bit easier to afford consumes.
Herbalism only has a 2k heal.
Tell it to the dps who got overkilled by 499 damage 20 seconds into the fight. xD
That’s what it does. If you don’t like it, drop mining.
No one’s forcing you to create a new farming alt. So I’d suggest you just pick whatever profession you like the most for enjoyment, or whichever one will give you the biggest numbers if you want to min/max.
Maybe play Retail if you want to play a sterile game where everything is homogenized beyond recognition.
The “play retail if you don’t like it” is a pretty stale thing to say at this point. It seems to imply you don’t care about anyone but yourself and those in your echo chamber. You may wish to consider being more compassionate or constructive or both.
The old herbalism buff was insane.
[Fire Leaf]: Reduces your armor by 100%, but increases your attack power by 400 for 10 sec, 1 Min Cooldown
[Fire Seed]: Makes you vulnerable to mAgic, but increases your spell power by 200 for 10 sec, 1 Min Cooldown
Not really. Homogenization is one of the big contributing factors that led to Retail. It sucks. If you want stuff that led to Retail, why not play the game that has what you’re looking for?
And what if people start complaining that they want to raid as a Frost Mage? Are you going to support them asking Blizzard to re-balance Wrath so it’s “fair” or are we going to say, “No, that’s part of what makes this era of WoW what it was. If it ruins the game for you, there are other options out there for you.”
I don’t understand how you think it implies anything about myself. I want the professions to have the same balance as they did then. That has nothing to do with the way I play, or anyone else. It felt good to do the professions you liked, and the bonus stats you got if you sacrificed your choice were a just reward. That’s how the game was designed to play. Homogenizing the stats just removes those rewards for your choices.
I’ll have the exact same restrictions applied to me as everyone else. On the contrary, the mindset of "I don’t like how professions worked, so let’s retrofit Wrath for every player on the planet so I can get what I want." is what telegraphs caring only about oneself and no one else.
I’m being both. I’m not being rude, and I listed out all of the perfect solutions I could conveive of off the top of my head. Rather than saying something like “No. ”
I would actually encourage you to try and be a bit more constructive in this discussion. All you’ve done is say my words are “stale”, say that I seem selfish, accuse me of being part of an echo chamber and give me patronizing advice that anyone with basic reading comprehension can plainly see that I don’t need.
he wants everything to be balanced. TBC is a major fail too. You want to be a prot paladin? you better have enchanting for SP to rings
if mining truly only is a small stamina boost and significantly weaker than others… why? why can’t things just be balanced
Ret paladin doesnt have interrupt in wrath but some class do, please give it to them BALANCE the game!
How about mining is going to make you a ton of gold?
Since the majority of dps mains are going to be JC/Engi or JC/BS in wrath, the demand for ore is going to be through the roof.
Because this isn’t soulless, sterile Retail. The point of Classic isn’t to remake the game, it’s to remaster it. There have been some changes, but nothing that significantly meddles with the actual balance of the game. This is working as intended.
Also, I should point out that anyone who feels forced to min/max double crafting professions is really just laying in the bed that they made. Want to be in a hardcore guild where you optimize everything? Then you have to actually be willing to optimize everything. That’s not for everyone, and that’s totally fine. But complaining about it is like whining that people who work 80 hours a week make more money than someone who isn’t as wildly driven. If you want the rewards, nothing’s stopping you from taking the plunge.
mining gives you the huge DPS boost of being able to farm your own saronite bombs without having to rely on another character to do it for you.
y’all whining is why they removed profession bonuses to begin with.
We’ve had enough changes to this game. No more. Play retail, or better yet play something else and leave this game alone.
You don’t want herb/mining/skinning on a main. You want engineering and another crafting profession. In my case I like alchemy as it gives free flask and extra bonus to flask use.
Lock the buff behind armor/weaponsmithing since its pretty much dead in WotLK
Armor: current stamina buff
Weapon: expertise? idk
This is such a misconception. Things will never, ever, ever, be balanced. It’s a fever dream. A completely balanced game is a boring game. The benefits of having imbalance greatly outweigh having balance. Obviously there’s nuance to it because having extreme imbalances is inherently bad. But when we’re talking about stamina vs critical strike rating from a profession… it doesn’t need to be balanced and it shouldn’t be.
The professions are balanced.
Mining, skining, and herbalism are gathering professions, meaning they are technically the best professions for making gold because none of the other professions (minus enchanting and taloring) need these gathering professions materials to function.
The fact they give any other buff is a bonus.
Mining isnt bad to have at all even as a dps. It lets you ignore stamina stat a little more to gain other stats without risking being to much of a glass cannon.
The herbalism one can help you survive to keep dpsing as well and skinning does give some benifit to dps, healing, and tanking with crit chance.
Skinning is crit rating.
Herbalism gives a heal similar to gift of naru.
Mining is STA.
No need to change it.
Based on the comments this thread has gotten, I’ve decided to change my mind on changing the mining bonus. But I’m also not inviting any miners to raids.
