Give me this! Give me that!

Guys, as easy as it can be to complain at minor grievances, inconveniences, and quality of life issues in Classic expansions, please keep in mind that this is exactly what led to the abomination such as retail WoW.

“My lock should have a blink - it’s not fair!”
“My rogue should have a self heal - it’s not fair!”
“Balance racials - it’s not fair!”
“I don’t have glaives, ban them in arenas! - it’s not fair!”
“I can’t be a tank and a healer without paying 50g, give us dual spec - it’s not fair!”
“[Insert your grievance here.]”
“[Insert my grievance here.]”

In the majority of cases, the game designers knew what they were doing. It wasn’t until players started trying to design games and create this “equality of outcome” per se, that it evolved in this … THING… we call retail.

Be careful what you ask for.

Fixed this for you. You’re welcome.

If you want retail, go play retail.

Your point is well taken and correct i think. However, there are some things like dual spec that were QoL changes that i don’t think would ruin the game. It’s the homoginization of the classes where things went off the rails. I’m sure I’m not the only one that thinks this but WotLK is the sweet spot in terms of game design.

Counterpoint well taken. I also agree that WOTLK was the sweet spot.

straight up I like this very true and honest. it’s got the best pvp i’ve ever played and it’s as well balanced as it possibly could be in my opinion considering all the things they need to take into account.

Actually, you’re wrong.

What lead to retail wow? The same problem that lead to all the problems in classic and tbc. The developers don’t listen to the community and know next to nothing about what makes for a fun game experience. But you’d know this if you weren’t making a disingenuous post that conforms to the reality you want to believe in.

The average poster complaining about the game turning into retail? Yeah, they haven’t played retail since cata at the latest, and they were probably upset because heroics dungeons were too hard.

You can pretty much dismiss anyone complaining about the game turning into retail as an idiot.

Very well put OP. I’ve actually enjoyed reading people bending over themselves to ask for QoL changes and adding future expansion features. It’s a fun cycle, we asked for classic with all it’s quirks for over a decade, before it was given to us. Now we’re asking for the same thing that made us ask for it in the first place lol. “But my life has changed, you should accomodate the game around me now”… uhh what lol? No this is classic. If you don’t like the game the way it was, go away?

there’s a great post that goes around twitter that goes like this

“someone imagining a guy, tricking themselves into believing that guy exists and then getting mad about it”

you show that imaginary guy who’s boss OP

While its not fair, technically they could have made a rogue themself, made a guild and secured those in the longrun but they dont!

Yes the PvP is very good in tbc, and I am enjoying it, however, there are some glaringly bad development decisions that were made imo.

I really think the separation of PvP gear and PvE gear is bad design and what they should have done is just rebalance damage and increased health pools. The idea of resilience as a stat is just poor design and so many mmos keep going down this path of PvP and PvE gearing.

There should absolutely be 2 avenues of gearing through PvP and PvE, but in a competitive environment, the gear of equal item level players that be PvP and PvE should come down to player skill and not some stat one player has stacked that the other player doesn’t.

Also, I think arenas are fine to have and fun, but the current design is just hardcore to the extreme and in no way should a competitive rating system be tied to gearing. It’s horrible design. Arenas should be for titles and mounts, And the spirit of competition. The gearing for arenas should be separated out with the honor system and raiding.

I don’t feel like the changes that were added to the game made it worse tbh. It was how they purposefully took a sledgehammer to the existing balance every expansion after wotlk that created the monster that is retail.

But that doesn’t mean we need to shoehorn in everything into tbc or make sweeping changes right now. In the next run of tbc after som (because its undoubtedly coming) I wouldn’t be opposed to things like the barbershop or dual spec considering we’ve already changed the base game with the inclusion of the incubus pet.

Tell us more about that mount :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

Lol you are too quick XD

Too difficult for the idiots to understand. They have exactly what they want available, instead they want the things other people want, but with the modifications THEY want that is already available to them in other forms.

We call those kind of people selfish, narcissistic, entitled morons.

Not that I disagree with you but be careful with spicy posts like that. These boards are super quick to hit you with the flag.

I enjoyed this. :beers:

There currently are two avenues for pvp and pve gearing, right?

Wrath was a good place but it also introduced cross server LFD, which would often pair you with toxic people that were only interested in pressing W as hard as they could to clear as quickly as possible.

When I tried to respec and play a feral tank for the first time, my first two dungeons were so awful that I actually just stopped trying to tank and never touched the druid again.

Now, if I had an LFD on MY server I’d be down for that. An avenue to meet other people that play on my server would be dope.

I rarely got grouped with toxic people when using the Lfd. And I used it a lot on several alts since dungeons are my favorite part of the game.
