Give me the rundown on getting into M+

Long time player here, 90% play time as a pvper. Never taken pve serious.

Just got my 1800 set and I’m lowkey thinking about trying to push in mythic+ this season and possibly pug some raids to at least see the content. I honestly don’t have the slightest clue where to begin.

I’m currently 583 pve ilvl in full pvp gear, still have a few greens left to replace. Can someone give me the rundown of the next steps I should take towards gearing up a pve set and pushing mythic+? I assume just start with mythic 0’s and lfr? Should I be crafting anything or need reps?

Thanks :stuck_out_tongue:

You will want to carry over your tier gear and get decent trinkets early. Beyond that do a tour of mythic 0 to get a base set then push. Its a brutal season for new comers as the squish has left low keys ghost towns.

Arguably, don’t, this season is hot garbage.

That aside, use whatever coffer keys you’ve got on the Bountiful Coffers at the end of Tier 8 Bountiful Delves to replace what of your greens that you can, maybe run some LFR / Normal raid for a chance at more replacements, grab some cheap consumables / enchants, and start shootin’ your shot.
Could also run some M0s if you want to familiarize yourself with the mechanics of the dungeons if you prefer that to throwing yourself off the deep end.

Edit: Also, what Primal said, keep your tier set. It’s free damage.

You could get an embellished armor piece with Writhing Armor Banding to amp the effect of your weapon’s embellishment, or you could go with Dawnthread or Duskthread if you want a bit of extra crit or vers respectively while above 80% hp.
Probably better to go with the Writhing Armor Banding since it doesn’t have an hp threshold given how much damage flies around this season, but best to look into it for yourself, research and reach your own conclusions; the better to understand why you would or wouldn’t do or want something.

The time to push from +2 onward as a pug has passed, I mean you could definitely try now, but if you don’t push week 1 / have friends you’re going to internally rot trying to climb from +2 to +6. The only reason I managed to push with pugs was because I was playing ret and could sac the tank / off heal every crappy pull, I can’t imagine doing it as a pure dps (lol if you think anyone is going to use demo gate)

Find a guild that’s progressing heroic and clears normal. All of them will have 2-10 players who just play casually but are capable of raiding mythic. They’ll probably run m+ in off time and you can get ksm with them. It really is that bad with pugs if you are a true solo, I wouldn’t even suggest it being easier for a tank/healer since you’ll probably be stuck with triple dps who perform < early access numbers.

Literally anything else is more fun then doing keys. Do yourself a favor and just skip them

People here are weird AF.

Mythic+ can be fun, just because some random newbs on a forum don’t enjoy it doesn’t mean you should skip it.

You can delve to replace greens.

I would do each dungeon on M0 to get a grasp on the basics of the fights.

Then just jump in. Start low M2-4, Mists and Dawnbreaker are pretty easy dungeons to start in. Hit everything at 2-4 then jump to 5.

You’ll enjoy yourself, forget the haters, they play a game they don’t even like.

I dont know a lot about the curren M+ scene, but may I recommend (especially if you are playing a Diabolist Warlock) to see if you can get this trinket:

It apparently works very well in M+ for certain classes and specs.

You may be breaking his heart with that.
They’re probably going to hotfix it to stop working the way it does by next reset, if that.

I would avoid this season of M+. The way it is tuned, the harshness of trying to pug any of it. There’s challenging content and then there’s this, which is artificially tuned for difficulty for the purposes of trying to keep us subscribed for longer instead of having a fun and creative way to keep us engaged.

Run delves with any keys you have through bountifuls, run LFR and Normal when you can get accepted to Normal, hit keys, do Heroic, hit keys, do delves, cry because you didnt kill heroic princess pugging…

I think I’m getting off track.

They better not. Im just getting used to having it. :sunglasses:

  • Get your coffer keys, do your 4 T8 Bountiful Delves every week for the shot at some Hero track loot.

  • I’d say the biggest thing is to take your time to actually understand what is going on in each dungeon.

  • Don’t skip M0’s – It’s the closest you’ve got to training grounds. Ride the heck outta that struggle bus.

  • Don’t be afraid to ask if you don’t know what to do. It’s better to ask and have someone explain it in an M0 than it is to do it in a timed key where people have a reason to get upset.

If you want to be more prepared, Quazii makes some fantastic videos breaking down most of the important stuff for each dungeon.

Other than that, Relish the challenge. Have fun. Don’t let others ruin your mental. Know when to take a breather. GL.

Just go into mythic+, it’s fine. If people are willing to take you into a group, you can do the content.

You got dis.

Woof.

So, as a DPS, you need to be WAY overgeared for the dungeons. If you want to run a +7, you’d better be i615. Not because you NEED to be, but because you’re applying as a DPS in the group finder against 1000 other players, and chances are some of then are i615.

To get into M+s as a DPS you need two things:

  1. Be way overgeared
  2. Be playing the meta spec

how do i normal raids?

Sign up. Standards are lower in Normal, and people look for bodies after they get a few core pieces.

if i get top heals in lfr will i be ok
in normal? i never signed up b4 never
made it to end game fast enough in classic
to try it lol

Yeah probably. I mean, that’s relative so I can’t say for sure, but it’s most likely you’ll be fine.
