Well, now that the garrison toy works, I see no need to have hearthstones in the bag, anymore than I would having mounts in the bag the way they were in Vanilla/Classic.
Bugs aside, it was a good change imo.

You can resize and move action bars wherever you want in the base ui. just make a smaller one off to the side and put them on that.
Feels wrong to delete hearthstones from my bags. They’ve spent so many years residing in them. 
Did you run out of things to complain about? A lot of people have been asking for things that take unnecessary slots in your bags to be turned into toys/currencies for ages.
This is a very welcome change for many people.
Learn to adjust one of your bars as “Accessories / miscellaneous” bar, scale it down, and put it on the bottom/corner of your screen where it won’t interfere with anything. Self-QOL lifehacks… thanks for listening to my ted talk

If you open your bag every time to hearh you can wrangle a close work around.
Go to your toy tab, find the two stones, right click on them and set them to favorite. This will move them to the first two spots in the toy tab. That way when you want to use them, just click the collection tab instead of your bag. If you avoid the other tabs the toy tab should always be the default that it opens to.
There you go, you have a system that functions 90% the same as having them in your bags.

The change in repair button graphics is much more obtrusive than this hearthstone change.
You can always go to your toy collection tab, set the hearthstones as favorite, then just hit the hotkey for the collections and click the hearthstone. Same number of key presses/clicks as if they were in your bags 
I don’t disagree though, I hate change for the sake of change

It’s called digital currency. You feel you had a real ‘hearthstone’ in your back but now it’s and appearance.
This is programming us toward a specific thinking. It’s like you think you own a ‘digital’ movie or the actual DVD. Just my opinion.
Obviously it’s because you are not carrying around your garrison shipyard hearth, otherwise your bags would be a wreck!!! 
I agree with you to a point on that, same thing with buying a game disc/cartridge vs. a digital copy.
But this whole game is digital. . . .soooo, it’s too late. It’s already all virtual lol.

Yes, but it is the same idea. We actually feel like we have something physical in the game… and now we have appearances that we click and they disappear into our ‘closet’ unless it disappears some how.
If you get gear in your bag or you get an appearance… the toy is kind of like that. I think people who have been playing a long time and seeing all these changes through every expanse get more and more weary of the changes…
JUST LIKE IN REAL LIFE. Just my opinion.

I’ve never created any addons myself, but this thread makes me wonder if there is a way to add in action bar functionality to where the bag slots would be. Like if you opened your backpack and the top row, instead of being space for actual items, worked like an action bar where you could drag toys/spells/mounts/etc into and click them as if you were using an item in your bag. It’d look like a large bag, but wouldn’t actually hold 4 more items. If that was possible, despite the OP not wanting an addon, it might solve their problem.
