Currently, bird mount such as Waste Marauder, Siltwing Albatross, Violet Spellwing, etc simply flap their wings in place endlessly when on the ground and idle. It’s a very noisy animation that’s also slightly anxiety inducing.
This is despite them using the same model and animations as druid’s flight form, which can and does sit. Perhaps more annoying; all of these mounts actually do have sitting animations already which are simply unused in the game.
Given the changes that were made recently to Honeyback Harvester and other flying insectoid mounts like it now having ground based animations where they actually land, it would be nice for these birds to get the same treatment at some point.

I agree, it is stupid they don’t land. They changed the bee/fly mounts to be able to land in 11.0. I’m sure they could do it for these bird mounts. However I suspect part of the issue is due to their relatively small overall size, the amount of clipping would be quite significant with the player model sitting on top of it whilst it’s in its landed animation. However they could fix that quite easily by simply increasing its overall size just like how mounts automagically get larger for Tauren player models.
The albatross looks stupid as it is anyway. An albatross has the one of, if not the largest wingspan of any animal on the planet. The fact that a mount bearing the albatross name is relegated to these smaller mount types it’s pretty dumb.
I like the idea. Give the game a touch more of ‘life’

One of my fav things to do on my druid is to just be in the legion flight form perching on things. Its cute.

I used to think they cared about issues like clipping, but that WoD Blackrock Foundry mount kinda confirms to me they don’t.
It doesn’t even have a saddle, you’re just wedged in between two armor plates lol.
Regarding the birds, if you use the mount on wowhead’s model viewer and activate its sitting animation, I actually don’t think clipping would be a huge issue.
