can we please have options to be gilgoblins?
I dont expect an allied race because they are outdated now customisation is a thing.
But can we please have the options for fins?
It would be so cool.

Honestly I would like them as an AR. I want all the quests and backstory to continue from Naz, and I would want the more customization options being an AR would bring. Shoe-horning them as just a mild customization does them a pretty big disservice considering how much work was ALREADY put into them.

No we don’t? The closest we have is the 12 tone, and even that is more green than anything. It doesn’t look like a Gilblin skin tone.
This reminds me of that one Dark Iron that said we have tats.

I dunno the number but it seems pretty similar to me. I saw it and thought “damn is this our kelfin?”
If they were just customization they could drown.

I don’t think they ever said they were done with Allied Races either, in fact I think I recall something about them being planned for shadowlands- Just way later than the first couple of patches.

Kelfin (Gilgoblins) deserve their own Allied Race, especially as they are aquatic and the base Goblin has nothing to do with being in the water.

I would rather an allied race but after the likes of kul tiran and vulpera im not sure they would do it for this

allied races started as the most basic reskins
But as the expansion went on more effort was put into them to make them more like their own race.

Well, I’ll disagree with that perspective myself. Kelfin have far more than just fins, including bio-luminescent eyes, webbed hands and feet, and sea-colours. There is more than enough there for an entire race.

So I see this lazy reskin argument posted a lot when it comes to this race. It would be a waste to have gilgoblins as a customization because the potential the models have for being an amazing design is just way too much. So here is my solution to this:

In way its interesting. The fact that their models are still cata quality means us who love gilgoblins can actually suggest more interesting designs since their appearances aren’t super set in stone. So my answer is to simply put more effort into their model. Keep mind with these model edits all of them could be much better if done on a professional level.

One thing I’ve noticed about you as that you put vulpera on a pedestal a lot. You are drawing a lot of comparisons about gilgoblins and vulpera. Is this some sort of attempt to put gilgoblin fans down?

This is literally my thread saying I want to play one. I dunno why youre taking issue with me here. I said i want to play one. Im not sure they’re allied race material any more but I’d rather they were an allied race. But if not I want the customisation. Its all here on this thread in the comments.

I think a “reskin” style allied race isn’t out of the question, personally. Remember, we got mechagnomes alongside the Vulpera. They’re higher effort than LFD or Void Elf, sure, but I’d say they’re at least around the same amount of effort as Gilgobs would take.
Thank you in regards to the work. About 2 and 3 though. Those are intended to more so be kinda akin to druid forms and there is ways to design them that work with more simplicity. A few other solutions here:
Now try to picture all of these with the geometry changed in some kind of way that makes them more unique and also some new textures that really go in detail. There is ways to do it with a model like this.
The feet is also another consideration. Other reasons why they shouldn’t be customization:

Maybe I overreacted. Typically though when people argue gilblins should just be a custom option, its usually cause they don’t like them. Especially when comparisons are being drawn with vulpera. This is why I was a bit suspicious. I have had to deal with lots of people saying things like this.
They said they had to develop a new system to have the legs and arms work. Im sure that took a lot of effort but im no coder or anything so I really dont know. I’m taking their word for it being hard work.

My apologies then. Seems this was just a mere misunderstanding. I believe you. I like vulpera too. I think they should be partners with the kelfin. I just don’t want to see kelfin be a mere customization option. I hope that blue skin tone doesn’t count as the kelfin skin.
