They wouldn't.
The Kezan goblins weren't around for the whole Arthas fiasco. (The playable DK ones are technically Gadgetzan/Steamwheedle etc goblins).

Yeah I thought as much. Hobbart seems pretty old though so I wasn't sure if I should rule them out entirely

Gilblins should absolutely be an allied race. I don't need any arguments to convince me of this fact.
Gilblin are just goblins that can breathe under water, have fin ears instead of pointy ears, and are blue / maroon in color instead of green. I see no reason why there couldn't be some colony of gilblin who do not want to be evil is not a stretch. Maybe they freed themselves from Azshara's will somehow.
Also, they should be on Alliance and a gnome allied race should be on Horde.

There is a huge problem with Gilbins though.

So gilbins are pretty much like regular goblins now except none of that neat super intelligence goblins have yet all of the bad traits. If you were trying to be more accurate to the lore, a post like this wouldn't be possible for a gilbin to write. Gilbins can barely even formulate speech patterns. For this reason alone, a race like this won't work.
EDIT: Another thing to keep in mind too. Most gilbins are enemies neither associating with the horde or alliance and many are servants of the naga and other water spirits.

I mean, goblins are explained by Kajamite, they used to be downright stupid from what I've been told. It's not much of a stretch to explain a tribe of intelligent ones that have found more Kajamite, or have been infected by magic.

Gilgoblins can write. Gilblingle is the writer of the item Waterlogged Journal which reads (in reference to King Gurboggle):
"Our self-proclaimed king will stop at nothing to acquire my family fortune. He has threatened and harassed me to no end.
I can't take it anymore!
I've buried the treasure and fed the map to Blackfin.
That should keep my cousin's grubby little mitts off our precious heirlooms!"
So they're capable of speech and writing, theyre just not as smart as goblins and most of their voicelines just happen to be simpler (but not that badly structured) sentences

This is my Gilgoblin race fantasy.
I also like the idea of them being on the dumber side. Y'know, now that I think about it, we don't really have any races who as a whole are "dumb".

Could also mess with the environment, making the animals all crazy. Could even give the Gillies something to use their new found brain power on.
