It’s really that simple. The bear last month was totally cool, because it’s effectively a cosmetic variation on a mount that’s already available and readily accessible. I might’ve even been inclined to get it on sale, since it’s less obtrusive than the yak.
But this is effectively crossing the barrier of “pay-to-win”, because you’re offering a definitively better game experience for additional money. That’s not an “opinion”, and I don’t care if someone wants to say “but I like going to a major capital”. The new Brutosaur is objectively better than every other mount in the game, because its functionality doesn’t exist anywhere else.
Now, the reality is that the genie is out of the bottle, so there’s no point beating a dead horse. So what can we do.
My suggestion is simple; IMMEDIATELY introduce a mount with a mailbox, and a mount with an auction-house. The OG Brutosaur is no longer available, so that doesn’t count. We know that the next patch likely isn’t super far out, so it would be a great time to introduce these new “convenience” mounts.
Even if they’re not in the game right away, simply announcing them would diminish the main argument and source of contention with this mount. Yes, I think it is obscenely, even offensively expensive, but it’s the fact that it offers a unique, objective advantage in the game is the real reason it’s such a problem. Blizzard simply saying “hey, mailbox and auction-house mounts are coming soon, they’ll be difficult to get but can be done through in-game efforts” would alleviate the feeling of real-money buying a better experience.
tried getting it with 4 gold caps and several alts for a year daily on bmah reset still didnt get it due bots and rtms 90 bucks is nothing compared to that suffering
Oh for sure, its super pay to win. My friend (who totally exists) bought it and he instantly became fully decked in mythic BiS gear and completed every single achievement in the game.
So 15 secs of faster access to sell stuff… is “pay to win”? You are either baiting everyone with this, or you just don’t understand how pay to win works.
I have a feeling we will see the OG Bruto become a premium Tenders reward, probably have people either pay 5,000 Tendies for it or make it a 12 month reward.
This is most likely a “bug” in that blizz shouldn’t allow the NPCs to work in pvp. More oversight than anything which is nothing new with modern Blizz. I wouldn’t be surprised to see this fixed soon enough.
Definitely not pay to win though. I didn’t suddenly beat 8/8M after buying the mount nor did I achieve gladiator or even m+ title score.
People really don’t understand what pay to win is and they should go try some mobile games if they really want to find out.
