Ghostcrawler Talks About His New MMO Design

IIRC he’s talking about his new MMO, not the RIOT MMO he left.

That’s cool, always like seeing new MMO’s (even though they flop majority of the time)

Looking forward to trying this out.

How much of an impact did he have on WoW’s design?

They apparently worked on WoW a decade ago, from what I’m told.

Simplified talents from wrath to a shorter tree in cata then the shelf design for the longest time
Then he went to lol just as I got a hang of the talent page he simplified that as well to a short tree thing

So I don’t have high hopes on how hes gonna run his game

King of quitting projects. :dracthyr_lulmao:

I wonder how long until he abandons that project like the Riot one

another vaporware…like the rito MMO.

The current one is “his” so to speak, so that’s more unlikely. A company that they run that’s funded by Netease.

That one’s still coming. GC left it due to reasons but it’s still moving forward.

Best of luck to him, I didn’t mind Ghost Crawler.

I don’t know. I’m not sure anyone who wasn’t on the inside truly does. He was very vocal with the community. Under his own admission he had some hand in pushing transmog as a feature.

How’d they fare on class balance, timegates, player agency, etc?

I do feel that some of the systemic issues were solidified under his reign of sort.

MoP class design was by far my favorite and the only expansion that comes close is WoD and thats only due to it being a pruned version of MoP.

MoP class design was some of my favorite. He played a Priest, IIRC. I remember MoP Disc Priest doing well, if that helps.

Cata time gating still had tabards to farm rep from dungeons, allowing you to buy the profession patterns quicker. MoP on the other hand had you inundated with dailies to grind rep to buy recipes. The time gating we have now was in it’s proto-type in MoP, if that is what you are asking.

They had a live AMA the other day as well.
