Ghostcrawler new lol mmo

They also came into the game with the benefit of already established and loved IPs. Any completely new game with a new IP has an even harder hill to climb.

This being a LoL game and not something new should help but there are a lot of factors that could still sink it.

While this is certainly a sad event (rip brad) VR is still trucking and working on the game.

:grimacing:

I don’t know if GC will be able to make a game that can compete with wow (though I’m sure he’s going to say that’s not his goal). GC has a certain philosophy with gaming that I don’t think will mesh well with todays gamers but :man_shrugging: I could be wrong.

I’m sure if they make it to launch the MMO will have the largest launch day of any MMO ever simply because LoL has VASTLY more players than any current MMO, at least according to
https://leaguefeed.net/did-you-know-total-league-of-legends-player-count-updated/
(tldc: 115 million monthly players)

If even 10% of the League playerbase buys the MMO that will be 11.5 million players. Not to mention all the other players in the world who would give it a go.

WoW has two things going for it over a new MMO. They have a dedicated player base that have put years into the game, and there’s a backlog of expansions that still have content people want to do stuff in.

A new MMO has to be great from the start to keep people playing.

League of Legends is the only one so far with the right combination of a strong IP and skilled developers though

Mate, I’m in the alpha I think it’s under hyped, gorgeous beautiful game. And it’s just the alpha cannot wait for beta or full release! Every alpha test it improves.

I welcome competition since it would push WoW to get off its sofa and innovate again.

We’re over a decade old and only finally catching up (agonizingly slowly) on very basic things like character customization.

To be fair a lot of the oceanic players only play WoW as this is the mmo of Aussie servers
if a new mmo comes out with Aussies servers I think this dedicated player base of oceanic might shift, if it’s better ofcourse.

Knowing Riot it will definitely be made to be sold on the chinese Market. Might hurt WoW for sure but I don’t think people here will be so invested.

That was Tom chilton.

I doubt this will take off or go anywhere, most WoW players don’t care about riot or league. Most league players really do not care for how sluggish and slow mmos really are. Since its gonna be deemed a wow killer, it will instead die before WoW does lol. Not really news worthy.

Star Trek Online, Final Fantasy XIV, and Guild Wars 2 would like to disagree with you.

Universe wise, there’s a lot of room for them to play with. Blizzard made WoW on the skeleton of a universe.

Runeterra is almost as fleshed out as Azeroth is now. You’ve got your regions and their powers, the major threats to the whole world, like the Watchers frozen under the Freljord or the Void incursion in Icathia, the minor threats to certain people or cities, like Urgot staging a rebellion in Zaun or Sylas inciting a Mage rebellion in Demacia, major and minor characters (both good and bad).

There’s a lot for Riot to work with, and judging by their universe stuff, whether it be games or stories, they know what their vision is for it.

The IP is strong. The only real question is whether the gameplay can match it.

I think you’ve confused Tom Chilton and Ghostcrawler. While I like Ghostcrawler, he got a lot of flack during MoP and ended up leaving due to it.

While FFXIV is huge, but not as huge as WoW. It has a much smaller playerbase, but a much more dedicated one.

All of these are pretty dead when compared to even FFXIV.

If anything this is going to be huge in Asia, not as much here. That is just how Riot likes to cater.

Fixed your quote

Thats what i’m talking about, an mmo can fully explore all of this potential for lore. If given the oportunity i’m going noxus to serve under swain, i Just love his filosophy and method of leadership

FFXIV is dead ? Cmon try harder while the success rate is low saying every game but wow is dead is quite the stretch

Nobody said it has to be as big as WoW is. It’s still competition. Any game that’s still taking players from WoW can be considered competition, really.

FF14 is much smaller than WoW is. By a sizeable margin.

Y’all FFXIV fans spend a hell of a lot of time on these forums. God, remember when 8.3 was a bit of a flop and all of the FFXIV fans were on here rejoicing? Jesus

I didn’t even mention FFXIV in my original post because I legit forgot it existed and everyone in here acting like I called it a snoozefest for weebs. Damn

Yeah, all the stories that ended half-finished or on a cliffhanger suddenly make way more sense in this context.

I’m most interested in Noxus as well, but Demacia will be a very interesting place with both Fiddlesticks and Sylas running around.
