Why is it that Ghost wolf suffers from the negatives of shapeshifting (like hibernate) but we can’t break roots and we move slow af. I think they need to make it so we can root break at least if we are gonna get a down side to this crappy travel form ability…
Because different classes are different?
Ghost wolf is still a pretty solid ability. No it’s not as good as travel form but it has never been intended to be.
It also prevents snares from reducing you below 100%. Did orb running on my Shammy this week and being able to completely ignore the gray ground crap was fantastic.
You can also turn yourself into a level 20 mount, with 20% reduced damage, and a small HoT with a single button press.
Because classes are different.
Sometimes a class is unique by getting all the weaknesses of an ability like shapeshifting, without any of the positives.
The spirit wolf talent is a joke, and we should be offended.
It’s instant, it can be used indoors, it can be used in combat, it has almost no cool down, and absolutely no appreciable cost attached to it.
If you think about it, that is incredible.
Agree, PVE ENH, ghost wolf with azerite pack spirit it is still pretty damn nice. The hps is increased by haste levels. I use to try and have 2 @375 ilvl Azerite and 22% base haste it would heal 4,360 HP per .8 sec. (Edit not sure if you would plan for it but with lust heals every .7 sec). Add the talent spirit wolf and it could reduce damage up to 20%.
PVP they limited the benefits but I still really like ghost wolf.
Ghost Wolf was solid in Legion. They seem to have a strange fetish with removing the most popular abilities with shaman.
Yet its slow. It has a 5 second ramp up time if you take the talent that supports it. 5 seconds of zero dps.
In certain niche situations. its great.
In most? Its meh at best. Plenty of classes have mobility that gets you to your point a ton faster/nearly instant. Or you can DPS while using.
Not to mention they nerfed using LL while in ghost wolf and nerfed pack spirit which together was really the only amazing defensive/offensive we had.
Kite while healing and doing dmg.
I think it’s great if talent Spirit Wolf and Spectral Recovery. It’s saved my butt more times than I can count. It’s just learning when to dip in and out of combat. We don’t have staying power, usually, so why stick around a fight. Hit you abilities, do some damage, then get out. =)
It’s susceptible to hibernate.
It’s dispellable.
It used to not even be instant, which was complete crap.
It doesn’t break roots.
It is not as fast as travel form.
You can no longer use lightning lash while in it.
Azerite ghost wolf talent was nerfed a ridiculous 80% in pvp.
Probably more crappy things about it but it’s late.
If you have Lasso applied , you can no longer run around in Wolf form ??
That’s huge . It gave mobility and heals during the damage phase .
You can purge it. Its a fun screw you to another shaman. Spam purge as you spirit walk chase a shaman trying to ghost wolf spam run from you.
Right, except you’re wanting to make it something that it’s not, and I’m just referring to PVE here. There’s nothing in the shaman’s kit - like any of its specs - that scream the kind of speed bursts or nimbleness you’d see out of a rogue, monk, or DH, so why would you expect its inherent mobility ability to be a carbon copy of one of those classes?
I am also only referring to PVE. 5 seconds of zero dps to fully utilize the talent that buffs ghost wolf…is bad.
Shaman did have have activated mobility option, in Legion
And it was not a carbon copy of the rogue/monk/dh ability.
Ghost wolf is freaking amazing in PvP. I run (with traits and such) at near mounted speed. I regen like crazy when wolfed.
I just wish they hadn’t nerfed it, and I don’t think letting it break roots would be OP.
You are joking right? In pve it’s pretty good, no doubt.
In PvP though? It’s actually okay (not great) but passable for kiting.
As enhance though? It’s probably better to stay out of it and spam purge. You’re going to be waddling either way. It feels like even dks have better mobility (dg is insane mobility in a sense. Instead of pushing out of position you pull someone out of position).
Specifically I’d love some kind of talent for enhance that changes it to help with getting to a target. Entirely too much waddling to have fun. (Or make feral lunge baseline as it’s CD is huge and the other talents are so crucial).
Well, I’m resto, so ghost wolf allows me an “out” when I am being focused on by multiple players. Once I’m recognized as a healer, it’s my only survival tool, and I’ve used it to great effect. I almost always get away at least long enough to put down some totems or throw out some more heals before I die. It gets me away from the melee scrum that jumps on me.
I’m sorry, but I’ve never played one of our dps specs, so I don’t mean to devalue the problems with it from that pov. Just…as a resto shaman, it’s my very best friend in PvP aside from riptide and my totems.
When I’m being boxed in by about four players at once, I am almost universally being chain-stunned in one way or other. Ghost wolf allows my trinket to be actually useful because I get totally out of the way about half the time and can break out of that. It takes a lot of players all at once to make it non-viable for escape.
100% it’s very decent for resto and ele (ele less so but still good.
Enhance just needs some sort of different talent that improves it so that you can get to a target at a pace faster than waddle. It almost wouldn’t be terrible if you didn’t have the incredible mobility so many other melee have.
