(Tl;dr at the end!)
Hi everyone, I spent 4 hours earlier farming the cat figurines in Darkshore trying to get the Ghost Saber to spawn. It finally spawned and I thought I tamed it but I guess it didn’t go through.
What had happened is the tame completed but the Ghost Saber was still attacking me (and killed me shortly after.) I ran back to my corpse and tried again (this time with a freezing trap,) and the same exact thing happened. When I ran back again he was gone (I assume he despawned?)
I’m honestly just super confused on what happened… the Wowhead page for the NPC has comments (and a screenshot) of people who have tamed him during Classic so I don’t think it’s bugged. Can tames fail or something and I just got incredibly unlucky?
I’m pretty frustrated right now and confused on what happened. Any insight would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
Tl;dr: Tried to tame the Ghost Saber in Darkshore, the tame cast completed but the pet kept attacking me and eventually killed me. Happened 2 times, by the time I ran back for a 3rd attempt he was gone. Confused on what happened.
I’m not sure but, this seems to happen taming anything else. Whenever I’ve tamed another pet it seems to continue attacking me a good few extra seconds before its tamed. Not sure if it’s supposed to be like this or if its a bug.

Do you know the general time frame for how long they continue to attack you for? He was attacking me for a good 8-10 seconds (if I had to guess,) after the tame went through so it seems a bit long for the tame to complete. 
Oh that’s way longer than the others that I have tamed. For me it was like 2 - 4 seconds. Which I assumed was maybe just lag. But for 8 - 10 seconds? That doesn’t seem right. Does it ever say it failed? That’s the only thing I could think of.
Nope. It didn’t say anything at all. I casted tame beast, waited for the duration to stop and he just kept on attacking me until I was dead. I also tried using call pet just to make 100% sure it didn’t just mess up and I did get the tame but it said I didn’t have any pets to summon or something along those lines.
That’s odd. Maybe its a bug? I honestly have no clue as to why that could be happening. There’s not much you can do except submit it as a bug.
Will getting a healer help?
No, I don’t think so. The problem isn’t staying alive long enough, the problem is I just can’t tame it. The tame completes but he continues to attack me until I die. Not sure if it’s possible for tames to fail or if it’s a bug.
Well I do know that taming can fail. So its possible that might be happening.
That’s what i was wondering, would you (or anyone else) happen to know the chances of the tame failing? Is it common at all or pretty rare? I’ve never seen that happen before (then again, I’m new to Classic,) I just can’t believe it happened twice in a row though so I’m not sure if I’m just incredibly unlucky or what.
I had an issue back during the first week where when I went to tame an enemy, for whatever reason, the tame cast ended as if it completed and it just did not end up becoming my pet and it continued to attack me and kill me. It’s likely a bug, and I have definitely seen people with the transparent cat pet so I’d say give it another go.

I actually went back a few hours ago and managed to get him to spawn on my 3rd figurine. The tame went fine this time and I have a cool new pet. 
I’m assuming that I just got unlucky and the tame failed or something like that but thank you everyone for the help, I appreciate it!

I think its a bug because i’ve had trouble taming a regular boar. Just like trying to tame the ghost saber, the tame didn’t take and he kept attacking afterwards. Tried 3 times and finally moved on to another boar and it worked.
