Idk who at blizzard needs to see this but this has become infuriating. The “investigate” extra action button from the ghost of company town quest in the ringing deeps is STILL bugged for a lot of players and after almost a year of this issue being reported blizzard has still done nothing to fix it and every workaround that has been suggested does not work. The bug is once the quest is complete, the extra ability “investigate” does not disappear. Resetting the UI disabling or deleting addons does not work, arena skirmish, dying, returning to the quest area. None of this works and the lack of transparency and response from blizzard has become increasingly frustrating. And now with the new raid in 11.2 requiring an extra action button on the VERY FIRST BOSS a lot of us with this bug are going to be at a serious disadvantage because of the lack of attention given to this issue. Someone please fix this issue.
It sucks I’m sure for those affected but this forum is not a place for feedback I’m afraid. If it was a simple fix it would have been fixed by now. Or perhaps it is not a high priority, dunno. I’d suggest the bug forum but it sounds like you’ve already reported it.
It’s not the extra action button itself, plenty of things use that in the game and work fine.
If you spam the button, don’t let the RP play out, or generally rush that’s when you come into problems with this quest. Let everyone speak and press the button only once per clue.
But yes, there is nothing Customer Support can do and this needs to go to the Bug Report forum.
Edit: it looks like you’ve already reported it in Bug report (as well as Technical for some reason) so you’ve done your part in this it looks like.
I feel like a year for even something not considered “high priority” is still excessive. You can find forums post on this issues dating back to August last year.
It has a quite easy work around though. Just slow down on the quest and it will function as intended. It may be slightly annoying but it’s certainly not game breaking.
I’ve already completed the quest. And I’ve done everything from resetting my UI, dying, returning to the quest area, arena skirmish, even deleting the game and addons and re installing everything and it still persists. I have even upgraded to an entirely new PC since this started and the bugged button is still there and not going away. It interferes with almost everything that requires and extra action button. Like the bombs on gallywix or the tokens on one arm bandit, I can’t do those mechanics because the bug overrides those abilities.
I honestly don’t know what you are referring to then. The only bug I’ve ever seen described is the quest breaking as stated above. I even re-read Wowhead comments a few minutes ago.
You post doesn’t say what is wrong, so the common bug is the one most people will assume is the issue.
The bug is the quest is complete and the “investigate” extra ability is still there and not going away.
