Evocation is so useless. I always forget to use it to benefit from siphon storm. I’m so used to using it when I run out of mana. Just bake Siphon Storm in Arcane Surge. It has a long cast time anyway.
Just stop forgetting. You can cast it while moving. Saving it for mana regen if you decide to double Warp might not be a bad idea especially if you have the Time Breaching Talon trinket.
Evocation is kinda huge for your damage. The amount of damage you do with Arcane Surge (you’re strongest burst ability) is based on the mana you have. Evocation helps you top off right before using it and staying topped off because of the regen. It also helps you with the arcane missle spam needed during Magi. All that being said I hate this playstyle because you have so much to set up and manage. And you are kinda useless outside of your burst phase. The thing I hate is mana gem’s current state. I’d rather it just be a button you can hit. Not a 3 charge item you have to make. And you have to use all of them before you can make more. It’s a 2.4 sec cast to make them. Just a bad design. I’d like to see that changed and maybe reduce the channel time and cd of evocation to smooth out some low spots in mana regen.
Let’s get rid of stuff for everyone that we forget to do as an individual hehehe. Wth
The amount of preparation arcane needs to start a pack is ridiculous, Make it faster or get rid of it
my guild keep saying arcane is beast … but god is the gameplay the definition of not fun
That sounds more like a Siphon Storm issue rather than an Evocation issue. That said, you could always… not… take Siphon Storm and just sit on Evocation until you actually need mana. And if you find you never need to use Evocation for mana recovery, then that’s another freed up point you can put elsewhere.
I don’t take Siphon Storm. Using Evocation as a dps buff on cooldown kinda removes it as a mana recovery tool since I’d just be hitting it when its available, whether or not I need mana. And if I do need mana, it may well not be ready yet. It just feels wrong to me.
Obviously there’s a dps cost in not taking Siphon Storm, but you’re also not benefiting from that dps boost if you can’t use it optimally, so why not shift that talent point to anything else that might give you a dps gain, even if it’s a small one?
No it’s not…
That sounds like your real problem. Just don’t forget to use it.
You do have a point, however, the spec is bloated with cooldowns and of that wasn’t bad enough they all have to be used in a very specific order so you can stack their damage multipliers. This is an across the board problem right now that’s faced to varying degrees by virtually all classes.
Retribution Paladins had the same problem but even more pronounced. The devs seemed to acknowledge that and are giving them a rework in the next patch and even specifically zeroed in on the bloat as a major pain point. We can only hope they realize the problem is far more extensive and not just limited to Ret. I expect this to be addressed sometime down the line but it won’t be soon.
Didn’t know you were called Evocation.
Why would you give him such horrible damage killing advice?
Well the trinket gives about as much as Siphon and when it expires, evocation more than makes up for the lost int. If you double lust at start, you will run out of mana quickly after Surge expires. I’m a noob so maybe I’m wrong but I did write that it is only feasible if you have the Talon. If not I surely wouldn’t recommend not siphoning before pull. You can get away with using Talon and Siphon before double lust on low keys especially on fortified weeks when bosses die very fast.
You would rather go OOM in 2 minutes?
Get rid of [Siphon Storm] and make [Evocation] baseline.
Evocate is just a spell that I forget to use
. I don’t really have mana issues due to the ‘Temporal Anamoly’ talent, it procs the (mana regen%) buff so frequently. So in turn, evocate doesn’t fit my rotation style. The need never arises
. LOL…
Wished ‘Siphon Storm’ was baked into Arcane Surge to be honest. Defintely, more convenient.
Evocation should be used on CD. Hard to forget it if you think of it like that. The problem isn’t Evocation. It’s the button bloat. Arcane is not fun to play at all. As soon as they buffed the other two specs mages flocked to them. Arcane is a mess.
Yea, I just got into the habit of casting at the end of every fight, so when mobs die I hit it and run up to the next batch. Also good for mid-boss fights after I’ve run down all my mana from the big opening. I don’t mind where it’s at I guess.
I think [Evocation] is OK and what I really dislike is [Siphon Storm]. Get rid of that talent, please.
As a casual player that picked up Arcane mage for the first time this expansion and has struggled to figure out the complexities/intricacies of the spec, I kind of love it. It is the most arcane magics in the universe we’re dealing with, having it be slightly higher skill cap than the other two specs feels right
Why does this forum always manage to come up with the worst possible solutions?
Some of these concerns are funny. Although I share equal dislike for evocation and siphone storm. But my hatred of the talent has nothing to do with the talent itself. It is playing with others with that talent.
I have been fooled so many times into using it to start a fight only to be cheated because the group calls off attacking during a count down. meaning the buff drops off before I can really make use of it. it happens a lot.
