how are you supposed to get people to stay when you’re making a new Guild or when your revitalizing an old or dead Guild?
I have been recruiting every day several times a day and I plan on doing it all day Saturday and Sunday.
Only one in maybe 60 people will join which I kind of expected.
But then the one person who joins never stays more than an hour or two. We have 30 people at our rosters over 60 toons. Half of them are 120. But on a daily basis there’s only three of us around.
Some of the people who wanted to join drop their alt on here and never come back. If I purge them then people realize there’s only seven people active.
I realize you need to have activities and s*** for people to do. But you can’t have activities when you only have four people. That’s not enough for an activity.
It’s like overcoming the ultimate social catch-22.
If I’m on an alt and someone’s looking for signatures, I’ll sign for any guild without a stupid name.
But I wouldn’t count on much participation from any new members with Classic less than three days away.
I know that for the past week or two, I’ve basically been staging alts to a logical break point so they can sit on the shelf for a month or so. I’m not the only one doing this.
Most people I know ingame are currently looking for guilds for Classic, not retail.
Its tough for sure. You just gotta keep at it. Use addons like super guild invite to swell your ranks and then you can purge and whittle from there. It’s going to take a while but if you put in the time and stay commited you’ll get there.
And contrary to the previous poster and their obviously small scope, plenty of ppl are looking for a guild at pretty much all times.

It’s a dirty job but someone’s gotta do it.
I try to advertise as much as I can when I’m on, do my best to make the ads catchy or funny (and probably fail), and when a new person joins, I encourage peeps to chat, try and make them feel welcome. Nobody likes to be just a warm body.
If anyone’s on my level range (as I’m currently leveling this character), I try and party with them.
We also set up a guild discord since people tend to ask about it.
I think that’s about it for what I could suggest!
Out of curiosity are you using the automated guild invite addon?
A lot of people in the game don’t respect people and guilds who are using that, as it can be intrusive and come off as rude. A lot more people who are making new characters are making alts and are waiting for guild invites from their main’s guild. This leaves the only people really accepting the invite as the ones who just click a button to get it out of their face after they just made their 17th Druid.
Add into the mix that guilds have fallen out of style as they’re not necessarily needed to complete content in the current game with things like in game communities and discord communities, and that leaves you in relatively bad spot.
Your best bet in my opinion, and how my current main’s guild has grown to over 160 unique accounts (over 400 with alts) with ~20 active on any given night is just to craft a guild recruitment message and drop it in trade chat every once in a while.
Be respectful and don’t post it too often, but a few times an hour is generally okay and won’t get you reported for spam. There’s always somebody looking for a guild, and a lot of people watch for guilds that sound like they might be aligned with their goals, especially if they’re disenfranchised with their current guild.
As for activities, start small. You don’t need to have 25 people online to start a guild M+ group, or even a full group for that matter. Throw a Mythic night up on the calendar. Or a battleground night. Or a guild achievement night. Whatever you think people might be interested in. And the important part of any of those events is to advertise them IN guild chat. Most people don’t look at the calendar (or the MOTD for that matter) unless they’re instructed to. Just as long as you’re doing things with your guildies to get them involved is the important part though.
Anywho, best of luck building your guild up, but just be aware that (as Nok stated), a LOT of people are ditching BFA for Classic for a few weeks. Once the hype fades you’ll notice people start logging in more regularly again.
