Getting oil for naval mission (wod)

how do you farm them? not talking about one time acquirement but a way to farm them either by grinding or doing daily/weekly. is killing elites that spawn occasionally on tanaan jungle pretty much the only way?

If memory serves me correctly their are mission table quests that give you oil too.

oh yeah, forgot about that but it’s too unreliable, they hardly ever show up and when they do, it’s a tiny amount. I heard they used to have a table at lion’s watch and daily would give you like 600 oil a day but i was told that was removed currently

shrug the only other option i can tell you is to google it.

you can buy barrels of oil in the ah, not that expensive my server anyways.

shipyard table gives the biggest amounts of oil, 400 at a time ,plus the regular mission table

Barrels of oil on the AH, mission table, Tanaan Jungle dailies and side objectives, elites/rares in Tanaan, occasionally at level 3 shipyard you get a rare mission for like 600 oil, and if you get revered with your faction’s Tanaan rep (Vol’jin’s Headhunters for Horde I think?) you can buy an item that gives a 400 oil mission on your shipyard mission table that respawns every time you finish it.

It’s really grindy but once you get the 400 oil mission it gets a lot better.

You going for the heriloom rings btw?

i am, any tips? just wondering

Invade a foreign country. Aside from that I think that the rare mobs in tanaan drop oil.

Not many, but shipyard has to be level 3.

There’s a rare in Tanaan that drops a schematic for the Ghost Spyglass or something, and you’re gonna want that, it’s a huge mission success booster.

Only other tip is be patient if you see the mission pop-up, you only have to check every other day or so because it’s up for 20 days or something. But when you do, wait for all your other missions to complete, that way you have all your ships and can figure out what combination has the highest success chance (countering the ship type is the biggest success booster generally).

You need

Previous is right.
You never have enough oil Until the Oil rig. I went for that ASAP.

We skipped out at the start of Draenor, so my Hunter got into it at max level in Legion (at one of the timegates.) So she was doing all the Garrison stuff then, waiting for the next unlocks to come (pathfinder 2, etc.) She got into everything, nets on all the ships to sell the fish on the AH (still sold pretty well in Legion), etc. I just looked, she still has 14,000 oil …

You eventually get more oil than you ever need, for the ship missions (your regular mission board guys sometimes have some for oil too, especially good if anyone has the perk where they get more.)

It is also nice if you have a ship that cuts the oil rig mission in half, one of my carriers does.

but i’d need to be revered with a rep ._. is there an easy way to do that?

The fast way is to buy Medallions of the Legion which gives rep, but that can be expensive. Most people just do the Tanaan Jungle dailies. If I recall correctly, you get a certain amount of rep for the certain factions by doing quests. If I recall, it took me about 3 weeks of doing Tanaan Jungle dailies to get rep up enough to buy the oil rig blueprint. But check out prices of oil on the AH, because it can be really cheap. (bulging barrel, I believe)

Naval yard, Mission table and you can buy barrels.

Ship yard mission should be the best way. If you go this route get the fishing net Item you can attach to ships as well since completing the oil rig missions has a chance of dropping the Sea Turtle mount.
