Start doing stuff for fun and not for purps.
I was 100% fine with that. Week 1-2 of a season = fully geared in the max end of dungeon chest loot. Then the rest of the season was just going in not even hoping for loot.
I don’t worry about this season. I worry about season 4. 18 months of this is going to get stale. Maybe as stale as the old loot system was for other people? Sure, I can accept that.
I just fall back on the old (and worn out) D3 example. I’d prefer people play less because they got their loot than people wander off because they get frustrated. One of those groups is probably more likely to come back.
p=.4 chance to get loot q=1-p=.6 chance of not getting loot.
Prob(no loot for 10 dungeons)=.6^10 = 0.0060466176
So the prob(not getting no loot for 10 dungeons) = 1- prob( no loot for 10 dungeons)= 0.9939533824
The average amount of loot =np = 10 * .4 = 4
That sounds a lot like wasting my time.
At least in this paradigm I have goals to work towards, which have a realistic chance of happening on a reasonable time frame. Praying for a massive titanforge was far worse.
Agreed. Fishing for minor upgrades sucks.
BFA spoiled people. Want it now? NP. Not so great? Too bad you wanted it now.
Revert back that garbage and here we are. Like trying to get nicotine addicts to quit cold turkey.
Ok, but you told me the chance of me getting 3 vault choices that are the same slot as my legendary was 1%. Which is not the math you just put down.
Your chance at zero loot over 10 runs with failed keys is ~10%? Which seems more realistic for pugs.
On my DH main I had all of the slots minus one that had bracers which is the slot of my lengandry… And the ring was a side grade even if it was 5 ilvls
I had 7 of 10 castle which gave me 2 slots
Had 1 for pvp and 2 slots for Mplus
So I played a little bit of BfA but really I haven’t played WoW since TBC and I played a lot of Classic. Then I came to SL. I won’t lie that from the perspective of a Classic-to-retail player, the loot complaints seem trivial because I’ve chased items for several months and I’ll go months raiding a specific raid and walk away with nothing but losing couple hundred gold (which is prob equivalent to 100k gold in retail). In SL I’ve gotten my 3rd, 4th bis in 2 weeks and pushing for my actual bis now for the 3rd week.
The difference is clear cut… but I won’t lie, going on even 2 weeks without loot or at least some worthy gain is just annoying af. At least give satisfying amount of anima, not 35. Raids should give you 500 anima, not 35. Mythic + should drop 200-250 anima. Or stygia or other currency OR REP. Give something meaningful. Wtf is 35 anima? Nobody liked the gameplay model in BfA of just spamming WQ for months to get anywhere meaningful yet here’s Blizzard basically saying “Here’s 35 anima, you want more anima? Go do all these WQ that most people don’t like doing.” WTF blizzard? Do you want us to unsub?
I barely played BFA only started at the end of it and I think the loot is terrible it’s not a matter of people being spoiled the loot just feels bad
Yeah, that happens. Bad luck happens. You wanna talk bad luck, there was a time between the end of Vanilla and the end of Wrath, several years, where I didn’t get a single weapon upgrade that didn’t come from crafting, questing or ranked PvP. “Only” getting 1 or two reliable upgrades a week seems perfectly okay to me.
You I agree with.
Meh I have already shown you’re full of bologna so gg. Have fun.
That’s the problem. Its not fun after the 10th time of doing it.
So stop doing it.
The entire game is grinding for gear. Over and over and over again. That’s the game. How is this different?
except theres no gear anymore. we just grind and grind now and no reward for our effort
Getting the gear is what makes it fun. Seeing your character’s power grow. That is the fun part, doing the stuff over and over is just a chore to get the loot.
You didn’t show anything except some basic stats. You have a low gg bar.
That’s one way to never stop winning I guess.
This is exactly the problem. I did:
6 heroic bosses = no loot
10 normal bosses = one item, not an upgrade
10 M+ (7-9 key) dungeons = one item, not an upgrade
This is tons of time, with 0 reward. It is not good, and destructive for casual players.
The entire game is grinding for gear. Over and over and over again. That’s the game. How is this different?
Agree. Also, I think people are forgetting that while BFA/Legion did constantly deliver dopamine hits of loot drops, the majority of it was useless trash. Heck, so much of it was trash that Blizzard went out of its way to create a “Scrapper” where you could turn it into…scraps.
Much of this is gamer psychology. Which loot system feels “better”. One that drops 30 pieces of loot over a month, 10 of which you actually use, or one that drops 100 pieces a month, where you also use 10?
The former may feel worse, but the goal is to make each individual drop feel more meaningful. Because I guarantee that if we inspected player profiles around this time in BFA, people are as relatively geared now as they were then. People are just not used to the new level of loot.
Still believe the best solution is a currency system, you set a goal, farm currency towards that goal, and when you finally can go buy that piece you feel like your time was rewarded. As opposed to now where you can farm dungeons or whatever until you burn yourself out and still see nothing for that time.
