Phase 5 is releasing imminently and those of us who are still with SoD are hype, but we all know there is a problem. SoD has a high barrier to entry at this point. People aren’t creating new toons and starting SoD anymore. The low level toons are almost exclusively alts. This is because new players know that they are already left behind.
In order for SoD to finish strong, there needs to be a very easy way for new discoverers to get started.
I suggest a highly expedited leveling system. BRD, Gnomer, and ST should give significant experience. BRD should give a character enough XP to level from 25-35. Similarly Gnomer should grant xp equivalent of whats needed to level from 40-48. ST should grant the amount needed to level from 50-55.
SoD is about discovering classes you haven’t played or learning new ways to play classes youre familiar with. It would be a critical error to not incentivize us to try out every class.
Commited SoD players that experience new classes for alts will be helpful to those who are discovering SoD for the first time, and keep core game functions such as dungeons and PvP Battlegrounds functioning. New players having ease of access to the endgame will make the efforts of SoD’s core players turn into a positive feedback loop.
We will all win when we all have a reason to achieve.

The new players that come here for advise, run into fools like you then realize the game isnt worth the amount of special olympic smoke your type produces.

The only real big problem with leveling alts in SOD right now are the runes. I tried leveling a Shaman alt a few weeks ago day but even the earliest runes require a group to get and I noped out of that pretty fast.
All runes under level 40 or 50 just need to be put on class trainers.
And XP is already crazy fast right now don’t know why you’re bringing that up.

I’ve been casually leveling a 2nd Shaman and you breeze through the levels, especially if you accumulate any rested xp. It’s at least twice as fast as Era, even accounting for the time spent collecting runes.
This rune (Ancestral Guidance or whatever) is trash btw. Easy skip.
The only painful rune for Shamans is Earth Shield since it requires a BFD run. Need to out-level and solo it (or get carried)

We already have a 150% EXP buff, in addition to Incursions that give insane exp. Is that not enough for you?

The people who aren’t playing sod right now aren’t gonna suddenly come back for p5. Sod is just common news now, everyone knows its there. If they arent playing sod theyre doing so on purpose.

I’m legit just so bored I can’t get myself to log on. I dread collecting world buffs. I’m starting to think I was drunk on nostalgia more than anything.
I did love TBC though. Damn I wish we could get another round.

I think getting new players to join (or bring back returning players) is a good thing to keep in mind, but it’s difficult with a seasonal server.
I think what all of these SoD doomers are missing is that a seasonal server is going to naturally shrink over time. This is expected, and isn’t indicative of a failure.
The limited time nature of it really disincentivizes starting late, so the majority of players are ones that started playing in p1. Very few players are ones that started p2 and later.
There are no new players, and barely anyone even checks news on SoD anymore, let alone plays it. Just end it now and start a classic fresh.
