ok this is mostly a rant, and i know its a suck it up cupcake moment, but im still annoyed.

This week ive gotten to a ok gear level, I abhor pvp Ive not done it for a long time, and pretty much just like the pve side of the game nowadays.

Im off work with covid, so ive commited a massive amount of time this week. Ive just got 3 keys left to do, however I literally spent 10+ hours queing for mists and hoa yesterday, with constant declines Ive asked them what I could do to improve and the majority just tell me my raider.io isnt high enough (and i cant get it alot higher atm, and have a guild run dos15 planned). No one has told me its my class yet but i do suspect its partially at fault, and ive had one guy tell me I need to be 220 itl to tank 15s :/.

I love the way my pally plays, and if im forced to use my DH to (regear and regrind) ksm, I suspect im just gonna go sulk and give up.

but now ranting instead of whinging, what are my options to get KSM

with next week being the patch, im gonna fall more behind as i cant get it this week, i could catch another toon up, but id rather play genshin impact then wow at that point, at least i can shove all my gear on one toon in that and it not suck :P.

I think raider IO, the crappy gearing to this point and tank imbalance has led to a very crappy experiance for getting ksm.

I know i came back to the game late, I know im playing a paladin, and I know ill be unsubbing if i put 40+ hours into this this week and fail from strings of declines for hours on end.

(ps i did do some mists 15 yesterday, dps for some reason stand in stuff on the lass boss :/)

You’re so close! Keep it up. Maybe find one friend who already had KSM and just queue together (that’s what I did). Getting into pugs is kinda like getting into the mob, you gotta have someone vouch for you to move up.

You’ll have trouble with these two specifically. They’re the two easiest dungeons, so I think a lot of people try to queue for these for their weekly. In my experience I get about 2x the applicants for Mists/HoA compared any other dungeon.

You’ll get it eventually if you keep trying, but the only way to guarantee it is to get lucky and get a 15 for those dungeons yourself or in your guild.

The upcoming patch doesn’t prevent you from ksm. It will put you slightly behind on the top tier valor improvements until you get it. And that’s only if you get gear drops that you actually want to boost in that time frame.

In addition to this, you won’t even have the currency to upgrade your gear right away. You’ll have to run some dungeons, and the M+ LFG is going to be way more active starting that week. It’ll probably be a good time to clean up the few dungeons you need for KSM while getting some Valor at the same time.

You have to get the key yourself, it’s a chore.
If only these :clown_face: devs :clown_face: would let us choose the key whenever we upgrade it huh.
But no, that would be too good for the playerbase.

as paladin I’m guessing you’re playing holy or prot? people don’t trust on rets specially pug wise.

you will be a bit behind but you will have to regrind it I suppose… there’s still sometime to get it.

getting caught up has already been a bit rough, I accept me not playing from launch is at fault for this if its my item levl thats the issue, it does increase the ITL delta a bit more still.

Ive never had this experiance getting into keys as a tank lol, I have defo had it as a dps however.

and yea im a prot pally, since BC

You will be fine, just build up valor points while you finish up those last two instances to get KSM. I have a blood DK friend get it last night, so if he can do it so can you :slight_smile:

Yeah, don’t listen to him. I started 15s around 212 and finished KSM at like 215. Currently 5/8 +17 at 218.

Overall your io looks like it is in good shape. Once you get that DoS guild run, that will bump it up a notch. I think the one thing holding you back is the total amount of timed runs. If there are no 15 HoA or Mist, rerun some other 15s to add to the count.

M+ is in a really bad place right now.
If you put in the time you’ll get it eventually though.

Whether it’s fun and worth it or not is the subjective part. :frowning:

I think we’re just in a rough spot right now, where the keys at 14 and up can get rougher than in my past experience, and people are nervous to go against the grain with which classes are currently having the easiest time at things (pun :P).

Pug life is rough, but I’m sure you’ll get there.

This will be my doom, to be sure, as we need to do, I guess, the intermediate KSM (like a +5 KSM) bits to unlock valor, and I only run my own keys. So I’m at the curse of the RNG that I will, in time, probably after a month or two, finally get keys to all of the dungeons at a certain level AND have them successfully run with my scrub pug peeps that come to me through the twisting nether.

Ive done some with the guild mostly its time we are on or not, the people i historically push with are actually pushing this week.

I also dont want to be a burden on them as such, or them to feel guilty that they are pushing 20s and not helping me, and they should be pushing twentys while they have almost optimum affixes.

some is time zone differances too which can be quite large lol

This is the best week to get KSM. Unfortunately the meta in this xpac is far more impactful, and the 2 dungeons you have left are the easiest, so they’ll have dozens up to 100 applicants.

You could swap your covenant to venthyr and get in an HoA fairly easily, but Mists will just take you a lot of hours of signing up. Sign up for all of them, just keep refreshing and eventually you’ll get it done, then you’ll never have to worry about it again.

You’re super close, but Mists is definitely the most difficult to get done as a non meta spec. That was my last also for KSM, took me weeks to finally get one, I don’t even know how many hours I signed up for them, at least 20 total … but you’re a tank.

Do you get something special for Keystone Master?

I’ve done plenty of M+, mostly in Legion, yet over the past couple of expansions I’ve never felt compelled to do this. Unless you’re running with a regular group of people, in which case it will probably happen naturally, it seems like a lot of worry and headache. Why is it so important to people?

we get a mount, and a gear boost on the patch, the mount and the cheeve mean more to me then the gear though.

Kyrian is overall just better atm, I was planning on getting KSM and swiching to venth, and putting my focus more towards the raid at that point, but kyrian utilty suits my style of play much better in 5 mans. But your right ill focus on getting mists done, and switch venth afterwards as ill be doing it anyways for hoa

200-210 have done it before dungeon nerfs, so that guy just wants someone to carry him or wants an easy run.

You say you have a guild, I suggest getting some premades and spamming your own keys, you should get dungs you need rather quickly.

Side tip:
You want Kael’thas trinket, saved me from lot of possible deaths.
You want DoS Hakkar trinket, the blood-splattered scale, way ahead of any other.
