I really wanted to play my monk (who’s a new toon i just recently leveled). rather than my paladin, whom I’m not having much fun playing atm.
I get about 2 hours deep in this felcycle farm, and I have to go to Draenor in Nagrand. Okay, says I’m not elligible to use my Garrison hearth toy…okie dokie so I just use my shadowmoon burial grounds portal.
Now I have to go to Maldraxxus, well my portals are now down so I just head to oribos and decide to fly…except there’s no one in Oribos except guards. NO NPCs around. So then I start the painful quest chain (which I can’t skip even though I’ve already done it) to unlock Oribos. Get to the part to where they send me to maldraxxus, and I get what I need and leave.
Next, I have to go to the BFA Vale…well guess which character doesn’t have that unlocked!? My newly leveled monk. So the only way to complete that is to unlock Nazjatar and Azerite Esseences before even starting the quest to complete the Visions of N’zoth questline.
This seems SO unfair for not only new players, but alts who haven’t played through all the expansions with NO option to skip. I guess I just wasted 2 hours and have to go back and do this all on my other character because I’d hate to get farther along and see what else is locked behind old content/phases.
I am prepared to entertain your problems and maybe help you address them. However, roping in the new players into a secret content intended for veterans accounts? Leave the new players out of this, methinks they got different grievances than us old boots.
The SL thing is due to a bug that they should theoretically be fixing in the next patch. As to the BfA assault phases, yea those are stupid that we can’t just talk to an NPC to instantly unlock them. There seems to be a lot of misinformation about it, but I can confirm for everyone that no, there is no skip for unlocking N’zoth assault phases. You have no choice but to do the campaign, which I think takes a few hours of questing. There are still people to this day who are unable to access Nyalotha due to this.
Here’s the thing, though: Secrets are not time-sensitive. Secrets are always there. New characters who cannot access all of the content necessary can take their time and do it all later.
Secrets have been happening since Vanilla, but it seems the Felcycle is the first secret a lot of people are going after, so I’m gathering that a lot of players don’t know how the secrets work.
They are almost always a serious time sink.
They almost always require that you go to hard-to-reach areas.
They almost always require the use of rare items/pets/mounts/toys.
They are designed to challenge veteran players, but no one is left out because they don’t get taken out of the game once they’re in it.
I don’t see this as an issue truthfully. It isn’t like you don’t have access to it, because if you want it that badly you could just go do the requirements on the pally to bang it out and then go back to playing your monk. I doubt the first thing new players would want to do is rush a random mount, and even if they did they would get to experience story content along the way.
Hi it’s me I’m a Shadowlands baby and yes I did the intros as a part of my journey to get the Felcycle:
What I noticed:
For BfA requires you must get: HoA + Unlock Nazjatar + do 8.3 till you unlock the current vale. Also the Crucible of Storms.
For WoD: You’re far better off getting the Garrison intro done (and taken to level 3) as you’ll need a Tanaan Jungle Garrison unlocked. The Blood altar requires a toy that is available from the reset after you do the first weekly campaign there. This step is timegated unless someone else gets the altar for you.
In the whole scheme of things I think this was rather fun. Kinda opened my eyes to stuff I’ve never tried (or really needed to try) before.
that’s my thing. I have been playing since 2006, I do have things unlocked on my other toon. Why are these not options to skip on other toons that are on the same account? I shouldn’t have to REunlock naz, and nzoth on an alt just to do it. My alts should all have this content unlocked.
The fact that not only the felcycle is locked behind campaign quests, but the raid (Nyalotha) is too. This is crazy for not only newer players but also alts considering it’s not account wide or at least a skip option.
so you can go mage tower take ashran portal in stormwind to get to nagrand in draenor, for the oribos quest, if you have done the storyline on any chars, you can talk to molgraine by the king castle and start the quest, skip that maw, once you get to oribos, take that first quest, tal-inara will give you the option to switch to fated (yes its fixed now), for the nazjatar, get the neck, its quick, dont need to keep doing it, do the start to narjatar , once you finish the intro quest for narjatar, go continue with the felcycle quest, i am currently doing it on a alt i never did any of these xpac on, i have had zero issue
