Getting Dread Gladiator's Plate in Shadowlands

Does anyone happen to know it will be getting Dread Gladiator’s Plate in Shadowlands? Apparently it says either season 1, which is past us, or arathi warfront, which will be almost impossible to queue up for in Shadowlands, I presume. Please help check my understanding on this, or let me know if I’m missing anything, but…

Does this mean it will be almost impossible to get it in Shadowlands? Do I need to rush to attain it? Or will there be vendors for old gear, or other means of acquiring it?

I imagine you should be able to do warfronts with undersized groups, like you can with old raids.

The warfront sets should really be added as an ensemble to the service medal vendor. The RNG keeps screwing me over on the pieces I need to unlock and keeps giving me stuff I already have.

For some reason the vendor only has aspirant gear. Looking at the vendors in the PvP area on beta there isn’t any with the unrated gladiator gear ensembles. So I guess both that and the elite sets are gone, unless they just forgot to add the unrated gladiator sets.

Ok cool thanks for the info all, but in this case, how do you get what pieces in Arathi Warfronts, if that’s the only way to do so now? Is it purely in Heroic? Is it only certain pieces? I can’t tell with what information I can find online and in the game

Hi there friend.

The Dread Gladiator’s Plate appearances are a bit confusing because there’s more to each set than what the Set’s tab lets on.

The Dread Gladiator’s Plate (The Gray/Gold coloration shown in the appearance tab) is currently completely unobtainable. It came in two variations, a regular and “elite” appearance. No word has been given if either version will be obtainable at any point in the future.

The 7th Legionnaire’s Plate (The Tan/Gold coloration in the appearance tab) Is the is the coloration still obtainable, and comes in three variations, “light”, “medium” and “heavy”

The light variation is obtained by winning the Arathi Warfront on either difficulty, and you get one piece per successful game. You can play as many of them as you want, and obtain it (relatively) quickly.

The medium variation is not actually obtained from playing the warfront, counterintuitively. You obtain pieces of this set from killing rares and completing world quests in Arathi Highlands whenever the Alliance controls the territory. If I’m not mistaken, you also get a piece of this set whenever you complete a faction assault in either Kul-Tiras or Zandalar, but I am not 100% on this as they came out after I completed the sets.

The heavy variation is the most grueling to obtain. You can get two pieces every time the warfront becomes available per character, once from completing the quest for the warfront on regular difficulty, and once on heroic difficulty. The frustration of this comes from the fact that you can often get duplicates of a piece you already have. Be sure to complete both quests on any additional plate characters you have, and as the set shares it’s place in the appearance tab with the Horde warfront set, don’t leave any Horde characters out whenever it pops up on their side.

The Warfront sets are… complicated. There’s multiple versions of certain pieces of them.

The most low end versions (least ornamentation) can be gotten from just clearing a warfront or there’s a chance for rares in a warfront zone that your faction controls to drop them. RNG determines what slot you get.

The middle tier of ornamentation comes from the quest for a normal warfront I believe. If it can be gotten elsewhere… I don’t know.

The top tier of ornamentation comes from the quest for heroic I believe. If it can be gotten elsewhere… I don’t know.

So that grey, unobtainable set that apparently still cruelly shows up in the sets tab, is literally unobtainable right now even in heroic warfronts, and for all we know I may never be able to look like this…?:

That is…a horrific sadness. It would have basically defined one of my characters…I was too slow. I’ll never forget that Blizzard is capable of this. Having one tier above a set like this (the elite set) clearly say limited time set, whilst stealthily making the tier below it ALSO a limited time set. Just to be a little more cruel.

Thank you much Larisa. Now I know I can mourn :frowning: Lol

Yes it is unfortunate. I had not obtained the leather or mail variations of either of them, though I was quite fond of them, because I had no fears of them being made unobtainable. this expansion is the first time the non-elite PVP set has been made to be unobtainable and it is a change I’m not very fond of. Hopefully, at some point, this gets reverted and we are once again able to obtain the regular sets. Regardless, I am sorry for your loss friend.

Dunno if there’s a PING system on these forums but there’s an update to your conundrum, and it’s for the better- With the latest build on the Beta, the ensembles for every gladiator set from BFA have been added to vendors, meaning you will be able to purchase the one you were after, friend.

the news recently came out on WoWHead. I hope you see this!

That is an awesome idea. Sort of negates the past 3 weeks of my wow time but hey, it is still an awesome idea.

Now we just need ensembles for the weapons.

Yea the RNG has been a real expletive to me regarding certain pieces of certain sets. I don’t mind working for it… but… all the work in the world doesn’t help if madam RNG decides to give you the finger every time.

At least with a purchaseable for medals ensemble, my efforts can actually result in a reward instead of disappointment.

You could probably just solo the warfronts come SL, maybe grab a friend or two to make it faster
