Getting back to Stormwind

I am leveling this Dracthyr. Currently on the quest, “The Primalist Front”. Also have the seasonal “The Ancient Scroll” and weekend event, “An Original Journey Through Time”.

From what players have told me, there should be portals in a large room in Valdrakken. Despite being told this, I can with 100% certainty say that there simply are no portals showing up for me there. This is true after completing a simple /reload.

I am also aware, and have both the toy hearthstones for the Legion version of Dalaran and the Garrison hearthstone. Again, both do not work – because I have not yet visited either place. I tried joining group with another Mage, but that player told me that I am in Timewalking thus they could not help.

How can I get back to Stormwind from Valdrakken? Do I need to abandon any of these quests? Do I need to complete something before I can see these portals?

If you can’t take the portals from Valdrakken, then fly back to Wingrest Embassy, go down the road to the Wild Coast, and take the boat to Stormwind.

Tureja is absolutely right, and you should be able to get the ship back to Stormwind that way.

But I’m curious about the portals. You say:

and while I thought I had heard it all with phasing and Chromie Time weirdness, I never have heard that one.

And even if you can get back to Stormwind now, you will want that portal in future.

In The Seat of the Aspects, the largest building in Valdrakken, downstairs, there is a large room with steps down to the fountain in the courtyard below.

As you enter that room by walking up the stairs, there are two portals, one to your right, and one to your left, in front of the row of pillars. They are about halfway - a bit less, I think - along the length of the floor to the stairs at the end.

As I recall, the one on your right is to Stormwind, and the one on the left is for Horde, to Orgrimmar.

I have had alts in Chromie Time in Valdrakken, and never had a problem using the portals. If the portals remain not-there for you, it might be worth investigating further.

P.S. This video shows how to get to the teleporter at the top of Seat of the Aspects for people who cannot fly, but you can see the portals on the side as he walks past them.
