Getting a black screen when launching wow after update

I have already tried the repair tool and updating my graphics drivers. Here is the Dxiag. I hope this isn’t one of those surprise you have to buy a new laptop to continue playing the game type surprises.

Howdy Heecate,

Looking at the DXDIAG I see the graphics card is a Intel® HD Graphics 3000 which is below minimum requirements for WoW. Now that being said if you have another GPU in your machine then you may still be good but sadly I can’t see it on the DXDIAG. I recommend trying the steps below and if they don’t work put in a ticket with our support team so they can look further into this for you.

Resolving Back-End Data, this will help clear out any cached information that could be stopping the battle.net app from functioning correctly:
· Press the Windows Key+R on keyboard
(Run Command in the Start Menu for Vista)
· Type %ProgramData%
· Hit enter
· Delete Blizzard Entertainment and Battle.net Folders
· Empty Recycle Bin
· Uninstall and reinstall the app, please reinstall onto the C drive

Sadly the Radeon HD 6470M is also below requirements. But lets make sure WoW is running in DX11 and not DX12 to see if that helps.

WoW folder>retail folder>WTF folder>right click Config and open with notepad>search for gxAPI and change the “D3D12” to “D3D11” then file save

Thank you for trying that. Sadly if both cards are fully up to date it appears that the new update has pushed WoW past what these cards can handle. Again both are out of minimum requirements for WoW BfA

Graphics Card, you need a minimum of an NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 560 2GB or AMD™ Radeon™ HD 7850 2GB or Intel® HD Graphics 530 (45W TDP)

Thanks for responding, I can’t say that I’m not disappointed that I can’t play on my laptop anymore. Thanks for your time. You might want to sticky something about phasing out older graphics cards as i have noticed numerous other users having the same problem. Guess I’m stuck playing on my desktop only now

I was playing on the free trail yesterday and yet my specs are below the stated system requirements? (Intel 3000HD and a Radeon 6700M). After playing the trail i was convinced to renew my sub, which i did, and now i find out im suddenly below the requirements to even run the game in which im facing the same problems as OP. what.

Have you tried dialing down your in-game settings? You should be able to adjust them at the character select screen - just press Esc.

I have been playing on a end-of-life laptop for 3 years and it still works - as long as I am willing play at graphics level 3. And this guy is ancient: 2nd Generation I5 and Intel HD Graphics …

Of course, your mileage may vary. Good luck.
