Get to the Point Necrolord assault quest

I’m constantly getting a “no valid targets” warning while standing in the ring to defend the position, both while attacking and while standing idle.

Also the elites outside the ring are not counting and need a tank to pull in. It seems the waves of enemies are very slow to arrive (maybe the hidden meaning for the quest title lol).

Can confirm, this makes the assault unfinishable.
I spent 15 minutes waiting for mobs to spawn/run into the circle, non appeared, got the error listed above, and killed all mobs in the periphery, even inside the circle, no progress, no completion.

I eventually completed it, but having opposite faction tagging the few mobs slowed it down even further. If there are mobs nearby that are not engaged with friendly NPCs, in an area of the periphery where there are no friendly NPCs defending, you can sometimes pull them into the ring.

I will agree that this quest needs major work. I cannot properly express how unpleasant the quest is without fear of violating community guidelines.

I just did this quest a third time, and I randomly lost 7 points. I was at 99, then dropped to 92. Did not gain points from several of the ones I should have as well. Not quite sure why that is happening.

wowhead comments indicate leaving the yellow circle will deduct points. After reading that, i never left it while on my rogue, which meant pulling from range is was near impossible.

Ah got it. I was able to pull easily on my mage and shaman, but on my hunter, I did leave the circle.

Confirm, majorly bugged. When I enter the yellow zone circle for the first time in a while or while standing in there, perhaps every 10 sec, I get the “I don’t have a target” warning. No adds spawn.

An additional bug is that I originally accidentally carried five elites from Perdition Hold into the zone. Three of them were the mawsworn angels with AoE fear. Emeni or some large tank NPC grabbed them all and did zero damage, and they did zero damage to him. No one could go into the zone because the entire yellow circle was AoE fear spam. I logged out and came back in an hour. The adds and Emeni or whatever abom it was were gone, and nothing worked since.

Also, I was working on this quest in a group with one other player. That player continued to gain % for doing nothing. My % seriously went up and down then up and down. I watched it go from around 50 to around 10 while I was standing in the circle. She completed it and moved on. One poster mentioned leaving the circle will cause loss of points. That might be true. I think I lost some while still in it.

Very poor QA on this. :frowning:

Indeed, I can confirm that leaving the circle will drain your %. My friend completed it before me because she stayed in the circle while I grabbed monsters. I was only able to finish this quest by having her pull mobs into the circle for me, then it went much faster. (Yes, she could do this even though her quest was finished. She just could not see the circle.)

I hope that helps someone!

Currently stuck in this god awful circle with no mobs spawning to get any sort of progression toward completing the quest. Can confirm the quest is still broken and took every strand of patience I had running in circles trying to tag mobs (as a melé dps) at range. Not impressed.

I did it on the fourth character today because I am crazy apparently lol. This time I was on my disc priest and the mobs were spawning and running in like crazy to the point that I almost couldn’t deal with them because I was so squishy. I thought maybe it got fixed but I guess the experience varies. Still got the attack warning. I did disconnect at the end of that one, too.

I couldn’t see any progress. No bar came up and I could not see any buff or debuff that was ticking up or down. I sat there aimlessly killing mobs for about 10 minutes and it just completed the quest. Then when I went to turn it in it brought up a warning saying leaving the circle would lose progress (it was already finished). This never came up leaving the circle when I was actually doing the quest. Seriously does anyone do even the most basic testing of this crap or did you just decide we would test it for you when you unleashed this garbage this week. I am seriously considering leaving this garbage game (been subbed since day 1 with the 10th anniversary statue to prove it)

This quest either needs to be fixed or replaced with one that is not so buggy. I have yet to do this on any character without at least a few of the mobs not counting, and the most recent encounter described below is pretty typical.

With one exception at the start I stayed inside the circle from the time I planted the flag until it was finished. After the first six or so mobs did not grant credit, I stepped outside of the circle far enough to log out to character select and back in. That seemed to let mobs start granting credit.

At best only about 1/3 or 1/4 of the mobs killed would grant credit. At times six or more mobs would die before another tick of progress would be registered. There was a horde warlock there along with my alliance warlock. Faction tagging did not seem to be a problem with them always appearing as valid targets despite who attacked it first. The other warlock appeared to also be struggling to get credit, so we started pulling all of the mobs in the area while staying inside the circle.

I noticed some of the Rune-hardened Retaliators were not attacking us. Many would instead stand outside the circle just within casting range. We started pulling them hoping it would help keep the event from completely stalling out.

A few times I also received the no valid targets warning. I think those were mostly early on when I was not in combat with a mob.

This quest can be quite the PITA when it is buggy, and that is rather frequent. There is no way to skip it and still complete the assault, so either fix it or replace it.

I think one of the biggest issues is:

Even for mobs that you’ve tagged, you only get credit if you get the killing blow. Obviously this is either a bug or terrible design. Please fix.

The first few mobs that did not grant credit had nobody else nearby. I did not think to check the log to verify I got the killing blow, but I expect I did.

Then again there have been activities, even within the Maw (looking at you collect 20 souls quest), where a pet getting the killing blow did not grant credit. I can’t decide if next time I’d rather switch her to destro and go without a pet to test this, or if I’d rather just skip the entire assault. I think it may be the latter.

Thanks for the tip.

Yeah even if you’re by yourself, if you still have the Necrolord NPC/pet that you selected to help on the “You and What Army” quest and it gets the killing blow, you won’t get credit. Not sure about things like hunter or warlock pets, but I’m thinking they might screw it up too. Very annoying.
