Get rid of the combat log

… wrote a song about it.
like ta hear it,
here it go

Imagine (No more combat logs)
(in the style of John Lennon’s ‘Imagine’)

Imagine removing the combat log
It’s easy if you try
No more easy mode add ons
No DBM, No Spy
Imagine playing Warcraft… as it’s meant to be
Ah-haaahhh

Imagine no more DPS meters
It isn’t hard to do
No more arguing over damage output
Must work together to make it through
Imagine all raid bosses… laughing in your face
Yoooohooo ooooo

You may say I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
You will cry “but add ons will break for us”
Remove the combat logs and have some fun

Imagine learning the boss fights
By dying time and time again
Learn through trial and error
Sense of accomplishment in the end
Imagine having no add on, to tell you what to do
Yooohooo ooooo

You may say I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
Please get rid of the combat logs
And the World… of Warcraft will be fun

It was lol. Calhoun Tubbs baby!! hahaha I’m glad you picked up on the reference.

Another “ Spy makes me wanna cry” thread.

  1. Combat log is so integrated into the game it would be next to impossible to remove it,

  2. Spy exists and will continue to exist.

  3. Threat meters exist and will continue to exist.

  4. Your song writing skills leave much to be desired. Don’t quit your day job ( assuming you have one ).

You’re clearly missing the intended absurdity of this kind of suggestion. C’mon man… Lighten up.

Of course they will. And that’s okay.

Yes, I’m well aware my skills are lacking. If they were any good, I wouldn’t have to work this 9-5, instead partying it up on a yacht hemorrhaging money. So, that being said… your assumption is correct.

Yes, imagine playing an inferior version of the game with no access to addons or macros or information that was available in Vanilla. A “have fun the way i do or nobody’s having fun” argument and another person wanting to take choices away from gamers. Also gotta love how you said you want us to imagine playing Warcraft as it’s meant to be, when… we don’t really have to imagine that when it’s reality.

Yes, cause having measurements to determine on how good your doing is bad. /s

So what i’m getting here is you like the idea for… fights to take about 30 minutes long with subpar dps and etc? I get why you would like that, because it happened in the past, but that’s because the game was new at the time. Now, with 15 years of knowledge under our belts, why would they want to regress that?

That happens with every game, it used to take me weeks, maybe months to play GTA SA cause i didn’t know what to do or how to effectively use my time tricks and etc, and i was a young little lad. Now a days, that game, while still takes a lengthy amount of time, can be completed under 40 hours, quicker then last time cause i know what to do, and it’s much still just as enjoyable, even more maybe.

Or if your speed runner, 10 minutes if your found the glitch to skip you to the last mission at the beginning of the game.

You can say that again.

If you want to remove numbers from an RPG, which is important for it cause of grinding and power progression and other things, then maybe consider that RPGs aren’t for you then?

Walkthoughs and other things exist on the internet. Do you wanna get rid of the internet while your at it too just so people will fall in match lock step on how you dictate on their fun? :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

You know, allow me to make a suggestion to you.

You have the option to not look at the combat logs, you have the option to not use addons, you even have the option to play as efficiently as your guild wants you to. you have the option to not look at people posting DPS meters by… leaving the chat. You have the option to ignore everything and just play your way and just have fun. Classic is about having fun atfer all, and it shouldn’t stifle on anybody’s fun.
