Get rid of M+ timers

Get rid of M+ timers for the loot drops. The clock would be still there for the leader boards and such, but a lot of the player anger (the yelling at each other, leaving in mid-run) would be a lot less an issue.

The way to upgrade your key is simply beating the end boss. +1 on a key when completing a dungeon, -1 if you don’t.

Not the stupid current system of if you go really, really fast, you get a +2 or +3 to your key. Doesn’t matter is you die 100 times, you get your loot award and the upgrade to a key for beating the end boss.

It would lessen the current toxicity in M+ dungeons, but still would have the “esports” type of game mentality behind it.

Mythic+ doesn’t make people toxic… Jerks have always been jerks and they just so happen to enjoy all the luxuries of online anonymity where they can truly be themselves.

Timer or no timer, they would still be who they are regardless of the setting. Once a jerk, always a jerk.

Nah.

Then classes with Heroism would always be meta because why would you try to pull the boss without it? I guess they already are, but being able to use it every boss pull makes it more powerful.

Sitting around waiting for all cooldowns to be ready for every boss pull sounds like dull game play.

Classes with hero are already meta. You won’t be pushing a decent level key without hero since the nerf to drums.

If you die 100 times it absolutely matters. Each death hurts your time. C’mon man. Do better.

But your not racing a timer so its not needed. ITs not like pre M+ we sat around waiting for hero to be ready, why would start now. its still faster to kill a boss without it than it is to wait 10 mins for the debuff.

If you NEED it to complete the dungeon… then far out just let em have it.

Even if there is no timer, im not staying in a +6 for two hours just to carry your mechanic-ignoring behind through it.

Yes, but in OPs suggestion there is still a key system that punishes you for failing. So if you are “pushing” keys, why would you take the chance of not having it?

That makes comparison to pre-M+ irrelevant.

And if the group wants that, who cares? Like I stated above, the leaderboards would be based on a couple of things:

The highest key completed
The fastest dungeon ran

For us peps who don’t give a flying hoot about that stuff and are in there for gasp fun and a little gear progression, it wouldn’t punish those that take their time.

The current system works exactly like this. There is no obligation to “time” the key unless you plan to progress to higher difficulties.

You even get the same quantity of loot now.

If you use LFG and find a M+ key labeled “Weekend No Leavers” or “For Completion”, then the group is doing the M+ exactly the way the OP is suggesting.

Hard pass.

Currently, if you time the dungeon, you get 2 pieces of loot.

If you miss, 1 piece of loot.

With all the netcode bugs WoW has. I can’t stand the timer. I can’t count how many times in SL i’ve been doing a 10+ key and then get that awful WoW bug where you get D/C’d from an FPS drop. Then ontop of that bug. You get the net error bug where you have to wait 5 minutes for the game to notice you’re not logged in to log in. Otherwise you get D/c’d constantly 2 seconds into logging in.

Awful fact that these two bugs have been in WoW for at least 3 expansions now.

On top of that its turned all dungeon running into just a DPS race. Use a stun. DPS race. Maybe cc one thing. DPS race. Its so boring. I miss the days when you had to have defined kill orders and everybody in the group had to use more than just dps rotation to clear the trash.

Or just find a better group to play with and learn the mechanics and do them over and over until you got it down. Stop trying to dumb everything down in this game. If you are not good enough to make the timer it is on you and your group not the rest of the community.

Well they already adjusted it so even an untimed key still drops two items, just one is a “slightly” lower ilvl. So basically you can ignore the timer if you want and all you get almost the same rewards anyways.

That changed in 9.0.5. You get 2 pieces of loot either way, just 1 is 3ilvls lower than the standard reward.

:man_facepalming:

That was changed. You get 2. One will be slightly lower ilvl. IE one 200 piece and one 197.
