Get rid of Levels!

The Secret World did this. I bet no one here has heard of that game. It didn’t have levels. Killing stuff and doing quests awarded XP that gave points used to purchase skills and spells. Power was largely determined by weapon quality and talisman which were WoWs equivalent of trinkents etc.

The wha now? Did it shutdown? Do/did people play it, What made it fail? If it is still around is it in Maintenace mode?

“WoW will eventually go into maintenance mode”

Not a bad thing necessarily. Fallout 76 has been in this mode for a long time, but it’s been polishing. Fallout 76 does what WoW doesn’t, which is it just polishes and polishes until you get something good.

WoW isn’t polishing right now, they are innovating. They want to have 12 different game modes all going at once that are all buggy. That’s straight innovation, that’s not polish.

You can have my levels when you pry them from my cold dead pixel fingers.

Yeah, no. Leveling up is one of the main reasons I play this game and it’s fun to me. I like putting in the effort to level up and get points to unlock new skills and abilities.

An MMO without some sort of leveling system is just dumb imo.

The M+ treadmill has rotted people’s brains out completely. It’s still an RPG… you still need to level up… sorry not sorry.

Na, they just need to cap the game at level 60. Then the level squish is always to 50 for old expansions there for the same scaling for each and everyone over and over. They can stop fighting their own short sightedness.

“Dear investors profits are down this year because we removed leveling and the character boosts are now obsolete. However we are in the early stages of fixing this by increasing campaign length by turning all quests into kill 100 different enemies. We believe this to have high returns as players will be more incentivised to skip the story. Which is a win for everyone.” - Blizzard probably.

Just wait until the end of the expansion when you can buy “raid ready” boosts. Last season they were powerful. This season, you just need to run a few normal then heroic dungeons to get raid ready.

This proposistion you made to us is already available.

Hear me out¡

Get rid of players. We’ve killed all the bad guys. We made peace. The Pandarian were right, we just bring war to peaceful islands. It’s time for players to take a hike P D Q. I’ll even say the Alans won the war. Glory to the Alans! Happy now?¿

It’s time to let Azeroth sleep, slumber and the players need to be fired. Leave the Boars alone! They did nothing wrong¡

Like seriously dudettes, bros, manos, wey, fam, homie, xaval, mate, alter, and peeps. No more players. No more war. No more farming bear butts and zehvra hooves! Sargeras was right all along. Let the gods of death and chaos reign! Didn’t you get the memo from Shayol Ghul?

And I promise with no more players, we will see that 47% of the “players” are actually node farming bots

I’m actually for no levels, what’s the point of leveling anymore? What 10 levels every new expansion. Level alts, when I’m tired of leveling anyways? Just put us at where we’re at and let us progress through gear and story campaign. Leveling seems pointless anymore imo.

That’s the worst idea I’ve heard of for WoW lol.

I bring peace to Azeroth! No levels. No gear. No farming. We all get in our spaceships and go on vacation

Hard no.

Leveling is pointless in wow anymore though. It’s not hard, just tedious. And I’ve played since vanilla.

No! I enjoy the leveling process and doing the stories. This is the real game. Dungeons and raids are to finish the story. M+ and pvp are just time wasters.

In truth what the OP suggested would force questing in the main expansion. It would get rid of all “old world” questing though.

The entire game is a waste of time. It’s a game. It’s intended to provide escapism.

But if people enjoy themselves, is it really a waste of time?

Some might argue normal raids or heroic dungeons are a “waste of time” because they’re too easy.

“Leveling is a waste of time. It’s a barrier to the end game, which is where the ‘real’ story is.”

All relative, bud!
