Can we get rid of keg smash? Or make it so its not the most important move in our rotation? Ive always hated it thematically and just takes me out of the game. I love kung fu movies, and relying on pulling out a huge barrel every few seconds to break over the toe of a giant demon doesnt seem too effective. Sorry to bring physics into this, but if youre breaking your keg on someone, then it has reached its maximum damage potential. Using a weapon and following through, or your own body/chi would be much more effective and allow higher damage potential. And where are all of these barrels tucked away. I know im getting a little too real here, but it seriously ruins my enjoyment of the spec. Even when monks were first introduced, it generated chi somehow. And that seems like it was more of a gameplay design then thematics. When i first heard of monk tanks i was really hoping for like a chi shield(which honestly could be used the same as stagger) and dodging.
I’d like a fist class that’s more like a buff brawler
Please don’t.
I would honestly be fine with implementing some kind of chi bomb for ranged aoe, and for melee aoe, like a shoulder check or spinning kick or something. Can still drink to manage stagger/chi shield
Monks had this during WoD actually, it was called Chi Explosion
Ignoring game logic so we have infinite barrels, a lot of classes have infinite whatever is needed. Adding why it would hurt… Let’s check the math.
Going with the original brewmaster, Chen, we see in the cinematic and in heroes of the storm that the barrel he carries is around 1/4-1/3 of his size. That puts the barrel at about 3/4 the size of a whiskey barrel which weigh around 520lb in real life, including the liquid and the barrel So let’s say that’s 400 lbs in total
So your slamming nearly 1/4 of a metric ton right on their heads, before factoring in whatever strength the monk is throwing it at. Yeah… That’s going to hurt more than a fist.
Even going extremely conservative, using a barrel 1/10 the weight, that’s still 40 lbs × the monks strength of throwing it, of force.
So to conclude… I think they’re is a reason it’s our hardest hitting ability.
Now thematically I really can’t help you in that as it’s pure opinion. You either like it or you don’t
Personally I don’t like alcohol in any way so I pretend my panda is a brewmaster of tea. Slightly flammable tea.
What would be cool would be if they simply changed the visual to be the monk smashing their weapon like an overhead smash. It would work great for the staffs with the keg hanging (like the legendary staff).
They could simply “empower your staff with a magic keg” so it always has the smash effect/visual.
This is the hero that brewmasters need.
Don’t forget we ignite the liquid with the fire breath thing we do afterwards so that adds to the idea why it would hurt
Very true, but I was just addressing the actually keg itself.
I can imagine burning alive would be just salt in the wound haha
Haha love the math, but bringing back the physics, (and correct me if im wrong) the keg breaking apart and getting smashed means it exceeded its breaking point, and the maximum potential damage was the integrity of the keg. If it was sturdier, that means more force would be able to be delivered.
As far as dousing your enemy in alcohol to light them on fire, you could spill it on them as you hit them, or envelope in your chi which ignites also. I doubt a lot of people would like that idea, but if we could get a glyph of some kind to chamge the appearance, i would totally be satisfied
I’m just here to say monks are in need of a graphics upgrade. Is there any class with more outdated graphics? Tauren totems aside?
The fact that your fist weapon disappears when you jab is such a huge turn off.
Smashing is intentional. Yes we could pour the brew but that takes time. This is instant and covers a much wider area!
Just be happy this isn’t classic wow where, if monks existed then, we would probably have to actually craft the barrels and have them in our inventory.
And make our own brew? Honestly that sounds awesome!
Hated doing that as a rogue, would never want to do that kind of pre raid management again
That does sound awesome if only for the fact that brews might actually get some unique appearances.
IMO, Night Elf brews should look different from Orc brews, and so on. Or perhaps if Alliance Monks (Tushui) had brews that looked different than Horde (Huojin) brews.
Brewmaster is my favorite spec and I don’t drink, so I just pretend it’s potions or something. Hey, they never explicitly say it’s alcohol.
My thoughts exactly!
Same. Brew should be savored, not smashed over people’s heads. Also, if it’s going to be an ability, at least give it a 3 min CD so we’re not pulling kegs out of our rears every 6 seconds.
I do wish Monks focused more on chi and martial arts over things like drinking beer and tea. I like drinking the beer, but it shouldn’t be what we rely on to function, what sort of message is that, Blizz???
