Get rid of deserter buff

No, being inept screws groups over, but so does people leaving.

I agree OP.

Although they would have to be careful with such a change to the system, because no penalty for leaving early could potentially result in abuse. For example, someone zones into bg X and simply doesn’t like bg X, they could simply AFK out and re-queue over and over until they get the bg they “want”.

Where a change is MOST needed, in my opinion, is those pesky “already losing” or “already in-progress” games. I believe there should be a “grace period” of like 1-2 minutes or something during which you can leave the bg without penalty.

Nothing sucks more than being dropped into an already-lost Alliance bg, the new players/backfillers should not be penalized for deciding they don’t want to stick around to get farmed.

It’s tricky and there is no easy solution… there is definitely the potential for abuse as I described above. On the other hand, being “punished” for leaving an in-progress/losing Alliance bg is no fun at all.

Nah I would prefer not returning to the days when ppl could que up multiple bgs ( normal and epic bgs now) and just jump ship to another one when things go wrong.

People like you are why we have the deserter debuff in the first place.

God, I remember that trainwreck…

You know what’s worse than joining an inept group?

Joining an in-progress inept group. You cause that when you leave.

Long live the penalty.

Nothing worse then queing for a bg only to get in for the last 3-4 seconds of it haha.

This is an awful response.

What about those of us who get dumped into “already-losing” games?? Against our will (most players expect/want a “fresh” bg when they queue)? Zoning in and getting GY camped by the other team is no fun. But forget those players, right?

bliz definitely needs to stop filling guaranteed losses

if the score is wacked out, stop filling it or just do a mercy rule

In AV for example, when you zone in (as a backfiller) and the score is A: 79 to H: 621 let’s be honest - there’s no “coming back” from such a large deficit. Even most people on the losing team often say stuff like “just let them win” in the chat, indicating they just want it to be over fast.

The more humane thing to do is for the losing team to lose quickly, rather than WASTING THE TIME of the innocent backfillers/new people unlucky enough to get dropped into such a terrible/losing mess.

This would happen even more since there would be no penalty for leaving. I’d rather not join even more in-progress matches, even if I could leave for free.

What are you going on about?

I’m advocating for a deserter penalty specifically to benefit those people who are thrown into in-progress games.

With no deserter penalty you would probably get dropped into even more games in progress.

That’s actually a halfway decent idea. But the issue with it is that people would join, see its in progress and leave. Every single person that joins an in progress/losing bg has a reaction akin to ‘I waited for this?’

They should instead give an incentive the newly joined player to stay and win. Maybe something like - for 2min you deal 20% increased dmg/heals?

For 2min all honor also gives conquest?
If you join halfway and complete the bg maybe a small conquest bonus?

I would be fine with being able to block 3 BGs instead.

naahh. i actually try and play and win. pretty hard when team is afk or beyond inept. dont mind losing. but i will bot be farmed because my team has ridicolously low gear or have no id ew a what to do or be complete JO

When I zone into a BG that’s in progress the first thing I do is tell instance chat that I’m a healer, just zoned in, and ask where I’m needed most. Winning those BGs is always such a blast. I wish that there was a queue just to zone into BGs that are in progress, especially if it gave increased rewards for winning.

Whoooooosh. That is his point. You literally just supported his argument.

That’s what I’m saying. The op has a valid complaint, but the wrong idea. Instead of messing up queue times - you just give increased incentives to people that joined in progress games.

Maybe there could be a limit where it doesn’t give this until after the games is 2 or 3 mins in.
