Wanted to go back and do old raids for mogs…tried LFR and you’ll still die even in that without a cloak
Yet trying to figure out how to get the cloak is hoops and wasted time, and I still can’t figure it out!!!

The cloak shouldn’t be necessary provided that you are at least level 61 and enter the instance solo. If you are being charmed, that would indicate an issue that merits a bug report. If you are getting killed, that would be a separate issue, possibly dying due to the death pit surrounding the N’zoth the Corrupter fight or due to the mindgate expiring without anyone entering it.
I’m level 80 and fairly geared, the issue is there’s something on the last bosses where it just wrecks you if you don’t have a cloak.
I did the quest ages ago on a healer toon that I am not playing right now, I was trying to get a cloak on this toon to do mythic solo.
I managed to finally get to Eternal Palace, had to do a while quest chain just to be able to get the portal to even get to the zone for the raid
Been a huge hassle just to farm some mogs
I do Mythic every week, no cloak required. The bar resets.

I did mythic many times without having the cloak. I cannot rule out that a bug exists somewhere, but there are mechanics that will instantly kill you. Were you in both mindgates to kill psychus 3 times?
Mythic Ny’alotha is pretty trivial, no cloak required. Make sure you’re doing the basic mechanics and you’ll have no trouble.
I can’t even get to the raid without doing the quest chain for the cloak anyway
There’s no option on chromie to change timeline…
LFR is only accessible since the NPC that teleports you in, is in the main city
Hadn’t considered that. Plus the raid entrance moves. It’s definitely an oddball. But that’s insanity for ya 
It definitely doesn’t require the full questline, it takes very little to reach Uldum’s new phase and a decent amount of questing to get the Vale phase. That said, it is definitely more than I think it should be for those phases to become available.
I farmed this on 8 different toons until I got the mount and I didn’t ever need the cloak.
