It’s not really helpful when most MVPs I’ve seen and others have as well that have this “I’m better than you” attitude that I’m sure most have noticed. Rather than give answers they give the typical “How can you not understand this” or typical corporate bootlicking and worship that got them mvp in the first place.
This isn’t true of all mvps but I’ve seen it plenty of times over the years. I’m not naming names. This thread is already probably breaking rules already.
I couldn’t find the OPs thread in question otherwise I’d link to it. I looked in both new players and returning players forums. But its understandable that someone who hasn’t played WoW in a decade and who hasn’t seen the achievement system before would have trouble understanding it. And their first thought would be to go to a help forum on the official website.
Best not to name names.
To be fair the players they’re responding to are usually posting nonsense or complaining excessively, though I will acknowledge that the MVP’s are far from perfect.
That’s not what happened. SnowFox voluntarily decided they didn’t want to be a mvp
See, when a brand new forum alt starts making the accusations the OP did without a source, I start to believe they are just making it up to cause a ruckus.
It is entirely possible than an MVP said something that upset him, but we’re missing information so we can only speculate.
Sure. Just saying it makes me a little less trusting when someone creates a brand new forum alt for something like this.
You can’t hide on a forum alt to complain about something, but I see what you’re saying.
I thoroughly agree with what you’ve said OP.
^ This in particular is reflective of my experience with “greens.”
In my experience, many of the people finding “greens” rude and condescending are being rude and condescending themselves.
They just really don’t like it when people talk to them on their own level.
For example. OP is incredibly condescending.
Hello,
Just wanted to say that if anyone in the Community has concerns about MVP’s or feedback regarding MVPs, Feel free to voice your feedback/concerns to MVPs@Blizzard.com.
The Community Management Team will review your E-Mails to that E-Mail Address and take any action that is appropriate.
Also, Note that MVP’s are NOT employees of Blizzard Entertainment. You may read all about the MVP Program in the sticky of this particular Forum labeled “Welcome! Please Read” and the information is about halfway down in the first post.
Cheers!
I dislike the MVP program for the simple fact that Blizzard seemingly uses it as a way to be hands-off with their actual communication on the forums.
I still wish for a return of the format Ghostcrawler had with the role forums, in which the community, especially those that sat at the top of theorycrafting, could effectively have back and forth dialogues with the class design teams to discuss numerical and mechanical issues with classes.
Im kind of just settling to the point where I understand now that the Blizzard of old is dead, expecting them to even begin to care about their relationship with the community is a wasted effort as it was clearly shown in their firing of the majority of community reps that couldn’t answer what their favorite IDE was within 3 seconds that they do not believe that is where their time is in any way best spent.
This is the time of Kotick and Activision and i’m realizing that the heart of the issue lies in the fact that instead of seeing us as a loyal consumer base, we’re just whales to be exploited wherever and whenever they can for maximum monetary gain.
many ask that question.
Most blues and greens seem to be.
Post a well thought out, researched, and honest post with any criticism of the game and it gets ignored by blues, derailed by greens, and trolled by everyone else.
Make a thread asking the community what their favorite pizza topping is and you would get a blue response in the first ten comments. At least until they sent them all to destination F.
It has been a long time since these forums were used for anything more than speculation, trolling, and “you divorce the player above you” threads. If you aren’t here to get a rise, throw out a random guess, or post an off topic thread, you are doing it wrong.
Something something youtube heroes, something something manual reviews
There’s something horribly amiss with Blizzard’s current internal culture.
It’s deep, it’s pervasive, and the signs are everywhere.
Poor community relations is just one of the symptoms.
What can you do?
BZZT, doesn’t work.
I’ve been at call centers, here in Nebraska (since we are basically “accentless.”) The responses you have are scripted, with the bulk of the people who would be reading the scripts never having once played Wow themselves.
You might THINK the green people are bad, but any kind of a call center scripted set up would be worse.
In fact, they might use that for some of the CS stuff now.
Press x to doubt. Stramge they went from a staunch blizz supporter to hating them when the moderation applied to them have they got banned back to back. Boy the stories I could tell but cant discuss moderation sadly. On topic
They should start ftom the top with lore and work their way down. Lore is in charge of the CMs. He calls people richard bags on his “private” twitter. He does not do any Community interactions.
Even if someone is being condescending, it’s still up to the MVP whether or not they choose to engage in a given topic. There are a small number who seem to seek out feedback/question threads and then engage with them in an adversarial manner right out of the gate.
There are hundreds of threads they could respond to, and yet certain MVPs seem to consistently find their way into places where they can lock horns with other customers.
It’s certainly not every MVP doing this, but the ones who do leave such a negative impression with people that they twist perception of the program as a whole.
On point.
