Get an Early Look at Hero Talents for Druid, Hunter, Mage, and Priest

The frostfire tree is… beyond disappointing at first glace.

It’s basically incanters flow again (which we already have) and proc nightmare. The choice nodes arent even choices, and ontop of that, it VERY heavily favors frost over fire.

imbued warding / meltdown:
25% more shield versus rng blastwave knocking mobs into positions you dont want them during ice cold? duh, 25% ALWAYS.

isothermic core:
shattered meteor for frost versus, random cms doing nothing for fire.

excess frost:
more cms shatters for frost and… random nova’s doing nothing for fire.

frostfire mastery:
incanters flow again, yay. Except now we have to forcibly cast this frostfire bolt to keep it flowing.

frostfirebolt / severe temp or thermal conditioning"
a build/spend frostfire bolt we have to use every 5 spells, that wont ever build up in filler for fire versus a reduced cast time. (will end up going whichever does more dps, but still boring)

frostfire empowerment/flash freezeburn:
random proc must cast this (wow got rid of clasm to bring it back)

Elemental affinity:
frost gets a controlled reset on their db/bw while fire gets… oh hey if you almost died you can have some frost nova cdr???

frostfire infusion:
random proc crap, yay

excess fire:
PF cdr versus AN ENTIRE brain freeze?

Like who made this? A frost one trick that despises fire mages?

I still cant get over the fact that back in WoD when they were removing Frostfire Bolt, they said “what even is Frostfire?? makes no sense”
Now here we are getting an entire kit based around it.

The mage one looks cool to me personally.

The hunter one… cool Black Arrow is back but honestly it just seems like a whole lot of passive damage.

Black arrow needs dispel protection or the whole dark ranger spec will be useless in pvp because it will just get dispellled instantly. Survival had the same problem in mop, zero dispel protection.

Very happy PvP Frost mage better. Gotta say, you guys have been hit or miss with Mage in the past but I think you nailed this one.

Any Fire mages here?? How’s it on your end?

Ignoring that doubling down on PI is a terrible design direction, the gameplay implementation for premonition that’s being discussed is horrendously clunky and complicated. Why is premonition not a smart buff per role and instead allows you to buff a mage’s physical damage? This is a contentious ability already and now we’re adding randomness and error into it as well? Who asked for that and why is it fun?

Dark Ranger only fits Undead, Troll, and Elven hunters.

I really don’t like it, thematically speaking.

I’ve a gnome hunter, I don’t want to be forced to be a Gnomish Dark Ranger.

Wish they were a bit more generic instead of undead-themed, guess we’re DKs now.

The positioning of some of these makes no sense. Oracle, aka seeing into the future, should be holy + shadow, not holy + disc. It takes the light and the void to accurately see into the future, not holy + 1/2 holy + 1/2 shadow

Oracle’s Premonition is DOA; as is, because of how brokenly stupid scaling can be, Power Infusion is more than a 10% increase in damage when used on the correct target.

This is a “Hero Talent” that’s less powerful than the ability it replaces.

Dark Ranger Feedback

Black Arrow:
PVE Only and Useless in PVP if it has no dispel protection and on a 30 second cooldown. I like it, but it has the same problem that survival had in mop. One dispel and its gone.

Dispel protection means “If it gets dispelled, do a ton of damage on dispel and reduce the cooldown by 15 seconds from 30 to 15”, or something that means that people have to be careful dispelling it

Dark chains
Kind of cool but a 40% slow is really not that great now that every class has freedom\charge\instant movement. I think you could do something interesting here and say like “If lone wolf is active at 10 stacks then this roots the target for 2 seconds” or something.

Dark Hounds
As others have said, not a huge fan of clutter and pet spawning when playing MM. Not a huge fan of this one. Would of preferred some maybe improved traps, like maybe adding dark magic to traps and buffing its damage or effects. Dark ranger to me is more about assassination and death magic rather than summoning dogs.

These are very strong themes. I hope I don’t run into too many situations where what’s more fun to play is at odds with what’s true to the character RP.

I’m guessing they want to stack the dark Ranger pet with wild call etc for stacking damage per pet

Depends on the cooldown and needing to constantly dispel is a way to win in PvP by making the healer OOM from spamming dispel

its a 30 seconds cooldown… its identical to mop which had the same problem. Read the tooltip its all there

30 second cooldown and its your main way to generate energy\burst and its completely dispel able. That is really bad for pvp
